As a fan of this fragrance line (XS), I can’t go without my little bottle. Apparently, they’ve lowered the sweet notes and raised the spice ones, with cinnamon taking the lead.

  • Freakmotion

This is the best of the four in my opinion. It combines the power of l’excess, the fruitiness of the original, and the sweetness of the Potion. It’s a ‘party’ scent that gives a cheerful, youthful vibe. It’s quite sweet with some wood, but sweetness dominates: on me, it’s a mix of pineapple, berries, chocolate, and honey. All four fragrances in the Black XS line are different to my nose despite sharing DNA; each has its own nuance. Highly recommended for trail and longevity; you can feel it all day without effort. Greetings from Chile!

  • I missed it quite badly when it launched at Ripley mid-year, even though I loved it immediately upon testing. Months passed, and it was gone from the department store; it was limited and hard to find. Luckily, I found a reliable seller online and bought it at a good price. Its notes are fantastic: the honey with praline, almost gourmand, is addictive. I think it’s an exclusive perfume, not for everyone. The key lies in the look: evening winter-fall wear should pair with a sophisticated but not scandalous image, bohemian but not party-ready. Romantically, it leaves no one indifferent; it exudes sensuality and chivalry under the halo of a confident conqueror. Sensational, one of my favorites.

I first enjoyed it in full winter here in Mexico, where it gets cold. The first thing I noticed was that sweet chocolate gourmand with berries, thanks to the combination of saffron and cinnamon. Incredible trail and very long-lasting all day. At two hours, the leather with praline emerges, which is delicious. It’s clearly for cold seasons; in summer it becomes cloying and heavy. I recommend it 100%, it’s a safe buy. Plus, it holds up well in stuffy places or smoky pubs; one spray is enough. In heat, a single spray is sufficient.

They say there’s an excellent clone of this in Argentina, the MAC GREGOR – STRONGER… Has anyone tried it yet?

  • A delicious fragrance. I tested it several times in perfumeries and loved it. Recently I couldn’t find it, so I bought two Argentine clones: one by Yves d’Orgeval, very similar even down to the bottle, and another, ‘Stronger’ by Mac Gregor, which I found more accomplished. It smells delicious, quite sweet but not cloying. You can detect honey, orange blossom, and cypress. It’s elegant and seductive, perfect for cold weather and evening wear.

  • Finally got a bottle after searching so long. I know it was limited and short-lived, but out of all the Black XS variants, my favorites were XS l’excess and XS aphrodisiac (the latter already discontinued). It was a fragrance ahead of its time; there are many similar ones today, but not back then. Sweet without being cloying, masculine, long-lasting, and elegant. I hope Paco Rabanne revives it someday.

  • What a shame they discontinued it; it’s the perfect sweet balance I’ve ever tried. Unlike Bad Boy or One Million, where the sweetness hits hard and simply, BXSA makes it harmonious and delicious for everyone. A real injustice that it’s gone while others still sound great.
