From the Sanskrit for ‘breath,’ the Arabs called Etna this. Atma pays homage to Enceladus, the giant buried beneath the mountain who, filled with rage, spewed fire and smoke to the summit. It’s a lava scent, complex, reminiscent of Cuoiom, Maahir Black, and 1805 Tonnerre. It opens with earth clinging to tuber roots, black pepper, metallic notes, and smoky vetiver. It’s not very evolving, but it lasts hours with a great trail. It has something unique: if you’ve ever been in a fire, like when my house burned down at university, that smell of ash and Sikelia’s Atma will bring it back to you. Due to its complexity and potential bad memories, it’s not for everyone or for blind buying, but it’s an incredible olfactory experience.
