Scent that doesn’t quite convince me. The quality is undeniable, but it smells like burnt palo santo: smoky, balsamic, and peppery. It’s linear, strong right out of the bottle, with good longevity and moderate sillage/projection. As always, it’s a matter of taste. I prefer Hamdani, Oud Imperial, or Interlude; they’re powerful and rich, whereas this isn’t the enigmatic style I’m looking for. Recommended for mature, formal men, 30 and up. If you’ve walked into an esoteric shop with incense and weird potions, this is a close match. Scent 5/10, Sillage 8/10, Projection 7/10, Longevity 7.5/10.

Luckily, I stumbled upon this gem casually, knowing nothing about it, but if you get the chance to try it, why pass it up? The result was a surprise: a mysterious and attractive fragrance, balsamic and woody with a sensual sweet touch. What stands out most is the Peru balsam, which creates an intense and unexpected olfactory explosion at the start, something few have experienced. It begins with a sweet, dark scent, creamy avianilla tones that pass through bitter chocolate and licorice before reaching raisins, reminiscent of Pedro Ximénez wines. Shortly after, the perfume brightens as the blend with labdanum balances out, resulting in a creamier, velvety texture, like a sweet and warm caress on the skin. As it dries down, its woody character awakens without losing the initial balsamic presence; in fact, the woods stay in the background, with guaiac being the one that blends perfectly with everything, and the oud note is barely noticeable, which is an advantage for me. It’s one of my most satisfying purchases; I always need to bring it close to my nose, and the feeling is always the same: surprise, pleasure, and intrigue. Performance is also great, lasts many hours, and leaves a long trail for your surroundings to notice. All that’s left to say is that it’s a magnificent fragrance, and I’m going to have a special affection for it.
