It’s the dark, sexy, and potent sibling of Cologne Pour Le Soir. I think it’s excellent, with animalic and balsamic nuances thanks to fennel and ylang. It opens touching on the dirty side, like animal leather, but doesn’t last long; though you might not like it, it’s worth it for what comes after. The dry down is warm, smoky with incense, woody with sandalwood, and sweetened by honey until it’s almost gourmand, with an addictive chocolate-like finish. It projects well and lasts a long time for a night unisex. It’s rare for Kurkdjian, perhaps the one that clashes most with his line and might be discontinued soon, but it’s a shame because its quality is undeniable. Rating: 7.
My experience is similar to Oscarsh86’s. Maybe I don’t find it as animalic, but it turned out to be an unfortunate blend, especially in the dry down, which is usually the softest part. It’s a spice bomb with fennel (which looks like cumin but isn’t the same), incense, and a very noticeable honey. It smells strong and complicated; on my skin, up close, it’s dry and even rancid. I find it excessively harsh and poorly balanced. In short, the scent didn’t convince me. Longevity is very good with a strong trail. A clear miss for my taste.
If you can get past the first hour, it’s a sexy and suggestive fragrance. It’s as polarizing as the reviews: it has two distinct sides. If Cologne Pour Le Soir is Dr. Jekyll, Absolute Pour Le Soir is Mr. Hyde. The opening is strong, almost unpleasant, and reminds me of urine; the honey, cumin, and ylang blend is probably to blame. Sometimes it smells like stagnant water where lotus grows. But by the second hour, the animal note calms down and the best comes out: thick, full-bodied, and very similar to its sibling, though more intense. The cumin gives way to benzoin and woods, while the honey fades in intensity, making it warm and alluring. It’s complex and, despite the harsh opening, more interesting than its sibling due to its better development. Excellent performance, lasting over 10 hours. I recommend trying it. Rating: 8/10.
Smells incredible, with a spicy opening from cumin that stays pleasant thanks to the sweetness of honey and benzoin. It just needs a bit more longevity to make my top list.
