  Written between 1304 and 1321 (or 1472, depending on the source), Dante’s Divine Comedy is the masterpiece of Italian literature, full of well-told contradictions: sin and virtue, faith and disbelief. This fragrance attempts to reflect that brilliant tension. Dante loved the number 3 (three parts, circles of 3×3, tercets, and Jesus died at 33). Is it a coincidence that this perfume has 3 phases with 3 scents each? I don’t think so. It smells like a journey between heaven and hell, light and dark. It starts floral and bright, like an ode to life. The solar note reminds me of relaxing under the sun with the sound of the sea, seemingly added to create an uplifting mood. It’s a blend of white and yellow florals with artemisia and ylang-ylang, so the journey doesn’t start in hell but directly in paradise. Then jasmine appears and takes the party to the next level. It could be a typical summer scent with neroli, but there’s a touch of incense and barely any cinnamon. Here it gets drier, darker, and more mysterious. The woody and ‘drunken’ facets make their presence felt, though jasmine and incense still dominate and complement each other perfectly. All the notes fight for dominance on the skin, and the interaction is notable. I’m not sure if it’s for men or women, as there’s also a battle of gendered notes; it starts more feminine before shifting to unisex. If you want to accompany Dante, 3 sprays and you’re good.
