Sceptre Bronzite by Maison Alhambra

Grabbed it blind and honestly, it’s hit or miss. It’s a simple, clean, citrus scent. Right out of the bottle, it smells more like passion fruit, but as it dries down, the grapefruit really comes through until it’s undeniable. The ambroxan is brief but not annoying. The bottle is a work of art, but its real strong point is the atomizer—I haven’t seen a better one. On my skin, it lasts between 1 and 3 hours with a very light trail, only noticeable upon contact, though it varies depending on skin pH. It’s a perfume for everyday wear, sweet and clean. Recommended for blind buys.

On blotter paper, it lasted five. Today I wore it knowing I have anosmia to amber scents. At work, someone from the office next door asked what smelled so good. The girl next to me said the hallway smelled like a man. Aside from that anecdote, yes, it does smell masculine. Will it continue to mature?

I don’t know Tygar or Turathi Blue, so I’m only speaking to my personal experience. The scent is simple without much development. The opening is fresh, citrusy, sparkling, and bubbly, like an orange soda. Then the fizz settles, leaving a bitter citrus note with a slight sweetness. It feels very masculine and mature, for 30+, not youthful nor for seniors. It’s versatile, easy to wear and please. It projects well and lasts decently, about 6 hours with a personal bubble. It feels clean and neat, not soapy, with good presence and doesn’t feel cheap. Scent: 7.5/10. Performance: 8/10, let it mature if you like citrus. Presentation: 10/10, the pressurized atomizer is fantastic. Versatility: 8/10, good for almost anything except winter. Blind buy? Absolutely; if you don’t love it, at least you won’t hate it.

I’m telling you for real, smelling this makes me feel happy and energetic… that citrus-sweet-spicy combo is addictive and works great for the office or short outings. I wouldn’t wear it to a party since I have other preferences, but for formal daytime occasions, it’s highly recommended. Does it have the Tygar DNA? Yes, just like Turathi Blue, it’s quite similar; I’d say 90%, with Tygar being more elaborate and higher quality. Also, tell you what, what more can you ask for from a fragrance for around $30? It does its job perfectly. Any issues with longevity? As I said, patience. I use it fully to let air in and macerate it; in two weeks I’ll let it rest for 3 months, and I know the magic will happen there (it’s already happened with other MA scents). Projection is very good; it’s noticeable but not heavy or overwhelming, a plus. People notice you and you leave a trail, but it’s pleasant and wearable, obviously for spring-summer and heat. Overall: Scent 8.5/10. Similarity to Bulgari Tygar: 8/10. Projection: 8/10. Longevity: RIGHT NOW, freshly opened, 6/10. Would I buy again? Among all my fresh scents, it’s one that delivers and serves me well for the office. I’m happy, so I’ll probably repeat.

It’s a well-constructed citrus fragrance only at the beginning. Afterwards, it loses strength and purpose. Fixation and projection are very poor. Disappointing.

I bought it blind for the price ($20) and wow, what a good smell, I was really impressed by how good it feels. Citrusy but not cloying, nicely warm and tasty for most. Totally recommended for $20. Good quality, doesn’t feel alcoholic or low-quality like a Zara. A good dupe of Bulgari’s Tygar at a fraction of the price. Blind buy? A resounding yes.
