Released in 1983, don’t expect an overwhelming trail; Missoni Uomo hits just the right balance to avoid overwhelming you or those around you. It opens with a green, spicy note where bergamota fades quickly behind an explosion of basil, galbanum, and juniper. Within seconds, a blend of cinnamon, clove, and especially coriander takes center stage. This isn’t for sensitive noses or heavy application, because if overdosed, it smells like sweat. In the mid-stage, a ‘dirty’ jasmine leads with a floral edge alongside carnation and a subtle rose. The woods are present, but vetiver really stands out. Then comes a dry, bitter leather note from the start, accompanied by labdanum, oakmoss, musk, and tonka, which linger at the end with a comforting trail of musk, Olibanum incense, and patchouli. It’s a spicy chypre perfect if you like scents like Cabochard or Aramis. Complex and totally out of fashion, but I absolutely love it.
