Perfumer
Kevin Mathys
Kévin grew up in the countryside in France, always passionate about the world of scents, and played as a child by mixing colognes, which naturally led him into the perfumery path. For him, perfume is an emotional trigger that allows him to be part of people’s lives when they wear his creations. Inspired by fragrances and, more simply, by the reason some perfumes attract more than others, Kévin became fascinated by their composition, and always had many questions to ask perfumers. Knowing that the fragrance industry was right for him, Kévin began training online in raw materials; after studying in Montpellier, he was hired as an apprentice perfumer at Bell F&F in Leipzig under the guidance of Sebastian Reuter—now a perfumer at CPL. Since then, Kévin has started working at CPL Aromas in the Dubai division as a perfumer, and is a major asset for the team.
When talking about a fragrance’s journey, Kévin commented: “The beginning is the most exciting part of the process; normally I have tons of ideas and I have to choose among all of them. But the nicest part is finding your perfume on the market shelves—this is probably the best reward of all.”
Outside of perfumery, Kévin is interested in drawing, nature, swimming, and hiking—activities that influence the fragrances he creates, helping to nourish the process and creativity. Kévin especially enjoys working with leather, woods, and amber. “A great masculine aroma that also works wonderfully in women’s fragrances.”
