Christine Hassan is a perfumer whose career in the world of fragrances is diverse. Her passion for perfumery is an integral part of her identity, rooted in her academic and artistic training. Christine’s academic path began at the University of Virginia, where she followed a dual track, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, with a specialization in Sculpture and Cinematography. After completing her undergraduate studies, she obtained a Master’s in Perfumery from ISIPCA in 2010. Her professional career took off at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), where she initially worked as a Marketing Coordinator. After that, she moved into a more hands-on experience as a Perfumery Apprentice, dividing her time between Paris and New York. In 2012, she relocated to Munich (Germany) to join Drom Fragrances as a Fragrance Development Manager. After two years, she returned to New York to continue working with Drom, eventually becoming a Junior Perfumer. In 2020, she joined Givaudan, where she currently works as a Perfumist. Christine lives in Brooklyn (New York), in a loft described as a living laboratory where different fragrances come to life. Her approach is reflected in various scents, including citrus notes up to fig. Drawing inspiration from her training in sculpture and cinematography, she often visits galleries, museums, and art exhibitions. Her favorite fragrance is Shalamar by Guerlain. Christine Hassan’s advice for those starting out in this field reflects her own path: a combination of persistence, passion, and the pursuit of one’s own dreams.
