Oh Venezia, you were love at first sniff. I was always intrigued to meet you. You were very famous in the 90s, especially in the US; you never made it to Mexico, so I never had the pleasure of smelling your original version. You disappeared for many years, and now I find you reformulated, but timidly hidden among my bottles. The moment I sprayed my wrist, I perceived an exquisite scent of sandalwood with vanilla, plum compote (more concentrated and less sweet than jam), ylang-ylang, and a resinous touch. Simply a delight; I couldn’t let you go, and now you’re with me. It strikes me that the first thing I noticed was the sandalwood, which is the base note, along with the plum. The only middle note I perceive is a very faint jasmine, and at the end, the sandalwood persists with hints of plum. You are a beautiful floral oriental that I like a lot for this winter. So versatile that you can be worn day or night for many occasions, or just for my personal enjoyment. You have medium sillage and last about 8 hours. If you’re this beautiful reformulated, I can’t imagine how magnificent your predecessor must have been. Surely a marvel. You are for women in every sense of the word, not for girls or teenagers wrapped in cotton candy. I think I’ll buy another bottle in case I don’t find you again.
What a lovely review, anitarosal, my applause!
I fell in love with Venezia because of the black-and-white TV ad. I sensed it was mysterious, magical, irresistible… I was a girl-teenager in the 90s and couldn’t afford such a perfume. It stopped being distributed in Spain very soon, and by the time I grew up, I couldn’t find it anymore. I kept a paper sample from a magazine like gold in a casket (I still have it today at 33, and it smells the same). Sometimes you have to believe in miracles, because they exist. Finally, today I have it with me, and it’s never going to leave.
I fell in love with Venezia because of that black-and-white TV commercial. I sensed it was mysterious, magical, and irresistible… Back then, I was a teenager in the ’90s and couldn’t afford a perfume like this. It stopped being distributed in Spain very early, and by the time I thought I was old enough to wear it, I couldn’t find it anywhere. I kept a paper sample that came with a magazine like gold in a tissue box (today, at 33, I still have it, and it smells exactly the same). Sometimes you have to believe in miracles because they exist: finally, I have it with me now, and it’s never going to leave.
I have the 2011 edition, but I’m dying to try the original from ’92. It’s a sweet, soft floral oriental, but on my skin, the fruits dominate the flowers. It starts with juicy, ripe plums and peaches. I barely notice the slightly bitter touch of ylang-ylang as the sweetness of amber and vanilla emerges, wrapped in a creamy sandalwood. Overall, it smells sweet, ambered, with a powdery touch—vibrant and luminous. Perfect for autumn and winter, day and night. The trail is liquorish at first but fades quickly; it’s soft and very wearable for an oriental. Lasts about 6 hours on my skin. Very comforting, mature, and classy. Very feminine, seductive, and sensual. Subtly animal. Very romantic and mysterious, caught between yesterday and today, between East and West, just like the city that gives it its name. And for me, when I wear it, it reminds me of Rondò Veneziano, that ’80s group that fused baroque music with pop, using period instruments, synthesizers, bass, and drums. They performed original tracks or classic versions, and with their stage presence and costumes, they introduced many of my friends to classical music, enjoying fresh, cheerful, and contagious melodies until I’d find myself humming their choruses everywhere. They created that festive carnival atmosphere in Venice, with joyful melodies that, though nostalgic, made you feel the victory of optimism. This fragrance keeps that dual essence: warm and cheerful, nostalgic and dreamy. And every time I put it on, I feel happy… I’m going to grab my CDs to catch up and enjoy them with this gorgeous scent. A perfect pair.
Although I have this 2011 edition, I wish I had found the original 1992 version. It’s a sweet, soft floral oriental, but my skin perceives more fruit than flowers. It opens with juicy, ripe plums and peaches. I barely notice the ylang-ylang, while the sweetness of amber and vanilla emerges alongside a creamy sandalwood that wraps everything. It feels sweet, amber, powdery, vibrant, and luminous. Perfect for autumn and winter, day or night. The trail is liquorish at first but then loses some strength; it’s soft and very wearable. It lasts about 6 hours. Very comforting, mature, and classy. Feminine, seductive, and sensual, subtly animal. Very romantic and mysterious, between yesterday and today, like the city itself. It reminds me of the Rondó Veneziano group from the 80s, that orchestra that fused baroque and pop with synthesizers and drums, taking us to the Carnival of Venice with joyful, contagious melodies. This fragrance maintains that dual essence: warm and cheerful, nostalgic and dreamy. Every time I wear it, I’m happy. I’m going to look for my CDs to enjoy them together. A perfect pair.
Venezia is a wonderful perfume; I wish it were more accessible in my country (Mexico) because it’s hard to find. In Venezia, I can really detect the fruits, but they’re ripe, spiced, with a certain touch of sweetness, very subtle. In this perfume, the sandalwood, resin, and vanilla make a divine combination: a scent so opulent, elegant, and creamy that saying it’s delicious doesn’t even do it justice. It’s a divine and distinct oriental. I recommend it for nighttime, formal, or festive occasions, and during cold seasons. Venezia is a perfume that feels like a warm, elegant embrace. Rating: 10/10.

I really like it; I bought it based on the reputation, and it was a total hit. It’s true that the ripe fruits are very noticeable… almost on the verge of spoiling… but it stays with you with a wonderful trail. It has three things I love in a perfume: of course, the scent, a very considerable longevity, and a great price. I recommend it. Oh! And the bottle is not only beautiful but super comfortable for travel.
I love it so much; I bought it based on reviews and it was a hit. Yes, you can notice the ripe fruits, almost overripe, but it stays with you with a wonderful trail. There are three things I adore: the scent, considerable longevity, and a great price. I recommend it. Plus, the bottle is not only beautiful but incredibly convenient for travel.
Great sillage, what a pity it’s no longer available. To me, this smells vintage; I’d buy it just for the nostalgia of Venezia 1992. It’s a pleasant aroma, but it reminds me of tapestries peeling off the wall.
It starts with a sandalwood bomb and orangey sparkles that remind me of the ‘pencil-sharpener’ scent in Dior’s Dolce Vita. As it settles, the woody peach and flowers, especially osmanthus and ylang-ylang, come through. It smells great for at least 4 hours and lasts a long time. It feels feminine and vintage thanks to that 90s fruity-woody accord. I think it’s lovely for cold weather, perfect for having tea with a good book. It smells like home, for enjoying solitude while feeling accompanied.
I fell in love with the original Venezia back in the 90s, but I didn’t dare buy it when sweet perfumes were rare. I searched for years without success until I finally found the reformulation in 2014, and what a joy! It brought back memories of that other one. It’s an imposing fragrance, Samsara-style, where the sandalwood shines so brightly it almost drowns out the rest. On my skin, it’s ripe fruits and pure sandalwood. I love wearing it for special winter occasions.
