Vanille et Coco: A Woody-Sweet Blend by DSouls Parfums

Launched in 2022 by DSouls Parfums, Vanille et Coco brings together the warmth of vanilla and the freshness of coconut in a scent designed for both men and women. Perfumer Daniel Josier crafted this woody, white floral composition.

The fragrance opens with a sparkling top of bergamot, cardamom, and a touch of salt, adding an unexpected marine twist. At the heart, vanilla, jasmine, and coconut intertwine with spikenard, creating a creamy, slightly powdery texture. The base rests on sandalwood, cashmere, and amber, leaving a long-lasting, enveloping trail.

Although classified as woody and white floral, the powdery and warm spicy accords dominate the skin. The salt in the opening not only provides freshness but also enhances the natural sweetness of coconut without making it cloying. It's a versatile scent that works well in temperate climates and cooler evenings alike.

The spikenard and cashmere give it an elegant character, while bergamot and cardamom add brightness. The composition reveals itself in layers: fresh at first, then more intimate, and finally settling into a very pleasant woody dry-down.

As a creation by Daniel Josier, known for balancing contrasts, Vanille et Coco is not a simple gourmand. The salt and spikenard elevate it, giving it a more sophisticated edge. The result is a perfume suitable for daily wear, yet with enough presence for special occasions.

Those who enjoy sweet fragrances with a woody backbone, appreciate the contrast between fresh and warm, and love unisex scents with a cozy sillage.

Vanille et Coco is a solid choice for vanilla and coconut lovers, thanks to its saline and woody twist. With a rating of 4 out of 5, it delivers on its promise.

  1. I’ve been looking for the perfume of my dreams with coconut and vanilla for years; I really thought this would be the end of my search, and I was wrong. Don’t get me wrong, the perfume is nice, with that undeniable quality that always accompanies Daniel Josier’s compositions, but it’s not what I wanted for myself. This fragrance is perfect for summer; it screams beach and sun in a paradisiacal place. It opens with a perceptible salty touch, like the one given off by tanned skin bathed in sea water, with a fragrant blend of white flowers and a coconut that, for me, is somewhere between coconut water and cream, with a very noticeable base of sandalwood and vanilla—not exactly a sweet vanilla, but a dense and sumptuous vanilla. A no-fuss fragrance with a touch of well-being, lasting about 6 hours on my skin, and a very polite sillage that creates a bubble around you.
