  I was gifted this fragrance in 1990 and felt it was made for me. It’s fresh, sexy, elegant, and full of presence. It lasts for hours on the skin with a soft sillage… it’s like having an ideal Italian summer sunset bottled up.

  The other night you were sad, your eyes shining as you talked about yourself, your job, and sharing life with someone else. I would have loved to see you glowing and smiling, with that touch of madness you had. Your side braid made you look younger, paired with a black sweater, jeans, and All Stars that softened your sporty yet elegant look. I saw you beautiful in the mirror, with golden candles illuminating your face. Your soft, bronzed skin hinted at summer, making you seem petite but sweet. Outside, a light breeze cut through the heat, and I tried unsuccessfully to take my eyes off you; I felt you wanted to kiss me. We talked for over an hour, which is always the case when I see you. I have a gift: a mini Trussardi you used to wear. Your eyes moistened as we remembered the past, the good times, and our mutual trust. I wanted to believe we’d live like this for more days, but with every word, doors closed inside me, one after another, with a dry click. I know they won’t reopen with you. How can I trust after so many wounds? Better to remember you as “Donna,” in the white bottle with the greyhound. The fragrance is fantastic, full of aromas and surprises. The prelude is rough, fresh, and green, with spicy and sweet hyacinth. Then comes the floral heart, warm like a garden, but the wind reveals its true, fresh face. Donna is a magnificent chypre, perfect for every day and all year round, resonant, unique, strong, and self-sufficient, with an almost unreal perfection, like the hug you gave me on the beach looking at the Moon.

  Alex1984’s description of this feminine fragrance is fantastic, so I’ll just add that it launched in 1982 (not ’84), a year before its male counterpart. In the early 70s, Trussardi was the first brand to use a single icon for everything: the greyhound, symbolizing agility. In the 80s, too, it was the first luxury brand to drop exclusive spaces to go straight to the public, launching ready-to-wear denim, sportswear, and youthful lines. That’s when it expanded its artisanal leather goods with personal items like watches and keychains, and became a pioneer by adding leather to a women’s perfume. It’s a spicy fragrance with character, simply named Trussardi.

  Thanks to Jerry Drake, I have a vintage mini bottle of Trussardi Donna. It’s white porcelain with relief details, looking like a goddess’s amphora. The bottle is gorgeous and screams strength, beauty, and voluptuousness; its whiteness can deceive those who don’t know what’s inside. Two sprays on the wrists and you’re hit with intense, fresh bergamot, giving way to aldehydes and dense flowers that elevate you straight to WOMAN. But it’s the evolution that won me over: after that haughty, distant opening, the woman relaxes and reveals her true face. On the skin, it smells of dry yet cheerful galbanum, well-worn leather full of adventures, and oakmoss that adds freshness. It’s a fun girl who swears and smiles while letting it all hang out. She doesn’t perfume herself to seduce, but she does it anyway. Her voice carries the confidence of a youth that fears nothing and will live without leaving anything unfinished. Everything will go her way; her magnetic personality will open every door.
