Next to Church Bells, this is the least interesting offering from the brand. I hope they can gain traction because right now they seem overpriced for what they deliver and remain unknown. Summer Sunset is lovely, closer to Church Bells but with more depth; it doesn’t aim for lightness but rather evokes a summer trapped in memory—nostalgic and unattainable. It recalls a heatwave in the nineties on the Mediterranean, with notes of neroli, Fructis hair cream, and sunscreen, yet with a more refined dry-down. It reminds me of Maison Matiné (crystalline figs), the legendary Giorgio Beverly Hills (wafer cookie), and Shiseido’s Ginza (undeclared rice water). If it were a moment: post-shower, dressed up, hair damp, at a beach house before dinner with the family at age twelve. The Spice Girls are at their peak; everything is simple, there’s a fair and ice cream, the uncles arrive in white bermudas and loose hair, sun-kissed to the max with an August flower-garden vibe. Moderate longevity.
