  It’s great to find perfumes that don’t aim to please the masses but focus on creativity, especially with Oud. Sombra comes out vibrant and uncommon. The Yuzu, that hybrid between grapefruit and lemon that’s hard to define but smells exactly like itself, opens progressively to give way to mandarin oranges at their peak, almost past. It’s not negative; it creates a citrus spectrum without resembling that typical, structured Italian style. Saffron blends like a lacquer bordering on freshness, interwoven with Turkish rose, a dark green overlaid by a unified body that presses its animal presence with leather and the first caresses of Oud. Tangible Oud is difficult to grasp if you’re not familiar with it—earthy, herbaceous, dark, woody, with a sweet touch that gives it its name: an extensive shadow that dominates all the light. The complexity falls short of framing Sombra, but if you let it breathe with patience, you’ll find a majestic dry-down that surprises many about how a perfume extract can evolve. IG @miromerofernandez
