Royal by Rasasi is a true old-school classic, that vintage barbershop scent that instantly transports you back to the 80s. At first, it smells very much like Drakkar Noir, with a powerful green wood note that eventually softens and balances out. It’s a traditional chypre where oakmoss, cedar, and lavender take center stage, while the other notes play a supporting role. After a few hours, it becomes quite earthy. Even though it’s a dupe for Drakkar Noir, over time it also reminds me of Givenchy’s Gentleman. If I were to compare it to a women’s fragrance, the equivalent would be Chanel’s Coco—more elegant but sharing the same essence. I recommend it for anyone over 30 who’s looking for something classic, masculine, and sophisticated.
