It smells terrible and is overwhelmingly intense. It’s like an old cognac torrone starting with a scent of dry urine over expensive leather—a cocktail of ambition for an old, dusty luxury that will clog your nostrils. The heat flees in terror from this baroque stew. If you can handle the pressure, wear it only once, in Siberia, so it doesn’t bother your own sense of smell; even in the harshest winter, it might be too much. At least I tried it as a sample, not a blind buy.
I bought it blindly based on a friend’s recommendation—he’s the perfume authority with a huge online following—and he’s right: it’s a masterpiece. The opening is intense and hard to take at first, but once it dries down, it smells incredible. The projection is strong and the longevity is amazing. A work of art in a bottle.
