  With the phrase ‘The true OUD experience’ on the box, Russian Adam invites you to enjoy Oud Zhen. It’s for those who love Oud and managed to grab it before the stock ran out. It’s a very woody scent (with both cultivated and natural Indian Oud) and smoky, with a powdery texture and an animal tone in the base of genuine castoreum and civet, easily detectable. It leaves a sweet, caramel-like trail in the dry down; I suspect it’s amber. Russian Adam mentions amber facets. Due to the smoke, power, and animal notes, it’s 100% masculine. The power is brutal; one spray floods the room, so don’t use more than 3-4. Asking for more is a mistake you’ll regret. After 20 minutes, the intensity drops, staying close to the skin with moderate projection, though its longevity easily exceeds 5-6 hours. It wins on longevity (10 km) but loses on projection (400 m flat), ending up close to the skin. In the dry down, it’s woody, very powdery, with a sweet caramel note and a noticeable sandalwood in the base, though the Oud dominates everything. Imagine if you added a lot of smoke, powdery texture, and an animal tone to Fragrance Du Bois’ ‘Sahraa Oud’. More powerful, dense, and dark would be Oud Zhen. It’s a significant improvement over the original (Oud Zen 2017) which used synthetics; here it’s genuine, offering a softer, more polished experience. Dark, dense, powerful in the opening, and heavy: that’s Oud Zhen, and I love it. Fantastic!

  With the slogan ‘The true OUD experience’ on the box, Russian Adam welcomes you with Oud Zhen: a fragrance only for Oud lovers and the lucky ones who managed to get the limited edition, as it won’t be back. It’s a very woody scent (with cultivated and natural Indian Oud) and smoky, with a powdery texture and a very perceptible animal base (real castoreum and civet). In the dry down, it leaves a sweet touch, like caramel, which I suspect is amber; the creator confirms amber facets. Due to the smoke, power, and animal notes, it’s 100% masculine. The power is brutal: one spray floods the room, so don’t use more than 3 or 4; expecting more is a mistake that will make you regret it. After about 20 minutes, the intensity drops, staying close to the skin with moderate projection, though its longevity surpasses 6 hours. It wins on longevity (10 km) but loses on projection (400 m flat), finishing close to the skin. In dry down, it’s woody, very powdery, with a sweet caramel note and noticeable sandalwood, though the Oud dominates everything. Imagine Fragrance Du Bois’ ‘Sahraa Oud’: extremely woody, but here they add lots of smoke, powdery texture, and an animal tone. It’s more powerful, dense, and dark. A key improvement over the 2017 original (which used synthetics): here it’s genuine, softer, and more polished. Dark, dense, powerful, and heavy: that’s Oud Zhen, and I adore it. Fantastic!

  My first contact was with a decant: from the moment I smelled the Oud, I loved it, and knowing Russian Adam makes it with natural Oud and that it’s a limited edition, I decided to buy the bottle, knowing many consider it masculine. Upon spraying the first time, I was shaken by the power and beauty; it flooded the room immediately. I detected potent, smoky Oud with strong animal notes (castoreum and civet), a deep, seductive, and totally unisex scent, with a buttery, amber base. It reminds me of smoked blue cheese, without any mushroom smell. The longevity is superior to 24 hours on skin and eternal on clothes; I’ve washed a coat twice and I can still smell it. The projection is excellent, so moderate the applications to avoid bothering others, as not everyone enjoys such different and complex aromas. On my husband, it highlights the smoky, drier, and woodier side; on me, it shines with a sweet, powdery base, hard to describe because I don’t know anything similar. It doesn’t smell like excrement or urine; quite the opposite, it’s sophisticated, addictive, and seductive. Although it was limited, it’s still available. I recommend not buying blind. For me, it’s totally worth it; it’s one of my top 5 in the collection. A delicious selection for Valentine’s Month.

The moment I sprayed it, I was blown away by its power and beauty; it filled the room instantly. I detected a potent, smoky Oud with intense animal notes of castoreum and civet. It’s a deep, seductive, unisex scent with a buttery, amber base that reminds me of smoked blue cheese but without any mushroom smell.   What a delicious perfume! It has incredible longevity, out of this world. I fell in love so much that I’m going to save up to buy it.
