Opens with dark tea, like gunpowder, more wet, nothing like a tea bag. The base has spicy notes and mandarin to balance it; the opening is gorgeous, very luminous, and transports you to Asia. After a while, green tea starts to peek through, revealing a floral note in the background—not sweet or white flowers, but periwinkle with that tart floral scent. From there, after about an hour and a half, the evolution stops, that magical shine fades away, all notes drop, and it’s left with just the wettest tea. Longevity: 3.5 (6 hours). Sillage: 4 (one meter for an hour). Scent: 5.5. Price: 225€ (100ml). Unique: 7. Emotional: Yes.

From then on, after about an hour and a half, there’s no further evolution: the magical brightness begins to fade, dimming and dropping all the notes until only the moistest tea remains. An ultra-restorative Wu Long tea, one of the best Chinese tea fragrances out there. A decent, formal, and sophisticated scent, 10/10 for the cultured crowd.

Out of all State of Mind scents, Aesthetic Turbulence is the one where you really get that promised tea vibe. Compared to what I know, it’s like a Nishane Wulong Cha but less bright, with a tobacco base that adds an interesting and unexpected twist. Sometimes that sweetness reminds me of the marshmallows sold in Chile that always have a ‘cotton’ flavor, but that’s just my madness. A very rich perfume and a great experience if you’re looking for something high-quality, easy to understand yet original at the same time. I see it as super versatile, unisex, with good overall performance. Rating: 8.5/10
