I tried this perfume a few days ago and it’s truly impressive. The opening is fresh and rosy; since I’m not a huge rose fan, I briefly thought it wasn’t for me. But while walking around, the rose transformed into chocolate with a rose base and a touch of tonka bean. The dry down reminds me of Tom Ford Orchidée Noire and lasts for hours. You definitely have to give it a chance.
The moment I saw the bottle, I was hooked: it’s a masterpiece, pure elegance. I tried it, thought it smelled amazing, and bought it on the spot. The small bottle cost me 200,000 pesos, and I’ve never regretted it. It’s sexy and elegant; as soon as you wear it, the strong bergamot opening hits you. After half an hour, the beauty of black rose and cacao with a hint of cinnamon emerges—very sweet and delicious, like an elixir. People always compliment how good I smell. In the end, it gets very powdery with noticeable musk. I’m head over heels for it, which is why I only wear it for special occasions. It’s a delight, absolutely worth it, and as soon as I run out, I’ll buy another. Perfect for a young or older woman who is sophisticated with a sexy touch.
Finally, I bought it and I have no regrets. The opening is black rose with chocolate: a dark, calm rose, nothing as loud as Lancome’s, which stays in the background for about half an hour. Then it settles into an amber with tonka bean, which is wonderful. Every time I wear it, people ask what I’m wearing. Aside from the initial rose note, which isn’t really my thing, the rest is magnificent. I’ve worn it under Le Parfum by Lalique cream, and the result is a sweeter, more vanilla amber that I love. If I want the chocolate to last longer, I apply a flis of Tom Ford Black Orchid, let it dry, and then layer this perfume on top. You’ll be in the clouds. Le Parfum, Black Orchid, and Noir Divin combine for something spectacular.
It’s like hot chocolate, with a powerful opening in the style of Tía María that later transforms into something unique. Although the description classifies it as Oriental Floral, I don’t detect any flowers. The cacao, tonka bean, amber, and a pinch of cinnamon clearly place it as a true Oriental Spiced or Gourmand scent. It’s not that cheap candy gourmand; this is an intense, delicious hot chocolate made with top-quality ingredients and zero synthetics. It’s an undervalued and fairly unknown gem.
The brand STENDHAL, founded by Jeanne Piaubert in honor of the writer Stendhal, was born from the fusion of literature and high-end cosmetics. Chemical engineer Piaubert revolutionized the industry in the 20s and led the brand for 80 years before joining the Bogart Group. Noir Divin draws its universe from ‘The Red and the Black’: a blend of black woods and velvety, sensual roses. The opening screams quality and exquisiteness. It’s sweet, warm, enveloping, and amorous. Although the description says floral, I perceive it as very woody. It’s unisex, in that high perfumery line where gender doesn’t matter, similar to Valentino Uomo or Dior Homme. I’d place it in the Oriental Gourmand family: addictive and delicious, far from current praline gourmands. It evolves to reveal a shy, discreet rose. I don’t detect anise elemi, cedar, or geranium, but I do feel the magic of woods, oriental balsams, and sweets: amber, patchouli, Peru balsam, and tonka bean. Deep, velvety woody notes. The dry down reminds me of magical ointments in imperial palaces, in the style of Armani Privé or Annick Goutal. Excellent performance, high sillage and longevity. It’s a divine black for a night of masks and palaces.

I bought it blind and love the fragrance, though the performance leaves something to be desired. If you’re looking for realistic chocolate that isn’t synthetic like Yes I Am Delicious, Noir Divin is a great commercial option (there are many more in niche). On my skin, it doesn’t evolve much; what I smell most is the cacao, a light spicy touch of cinnamon, and a shy rose in the background. I don’t detect the geranium. At first, it might smell like bergamot, but that fades in five minutes. What remains is 65% dark chocolate: neither super bitter nor super sweet, with a powdery, elegant, almost vintage vibe. Performance: it lasted 6-7 hours but was very faint, hard to detect. The sillage is super soft, just a tiny burst. I wear it for the office in autumn-winter because others don’t notice it, perfect for quiet mornings. Maybe my bottle was reformulated (mine is silver, the photo shows gold), since the intensity isn’t what I expected for a night perfume. In summary: niche quality, decent skin longevity, but disappointing sillage. Unlike what people say it resembles Bouquet Ideale by Xerjoff (which smells of spices and nutmeg), for me it’s just bitter chocolate with soft cinnamon.

Perfect for those seeking a subtly amber scent with spicy and patchouli notes. It’s unisex and reveals its character quickly: at first, resins and cedar stand out over cinnamon and cocoa, settling into a balsamic base that clings to the skin. Over time, it becomes more oriental and intimate. For me, it’s almost a waste, yet it never feels heavy or unpleasant thanks to a perfect dosage. It’s not a common aroma, which is refreshing among so many similar options; it’s comforting and makes you feel good. Moderate longevity, but it gains strength gradually in a way I didn’t expect at first. (Courtesy of Josesan)
