About New Journalist Fresh Ink
Fresh Ink Writes Bright Citrus Over Dark Woods
New Journalist Fresh Ink from Michael Malul London is a Woody Aromatic fragrance made for men and women. It launched in 2026 and was created by perfumer Alexandra Monet.
The hook is contrast: brown sugar, Italian lemon and mandarin open sweet and sharp, then give way to an aromatic core and a deep base of woods, amber tones and musk.
Up top, mandarin and Italian lemon feel zesty and clean, while brown sugar softens the edges with a dark, light-touch sweetness. Think wet ink on paper — crisp, bright, just a little sugared.
The middle leans aromatic thanks to lavender and geranium, fresh and lightly spicy. Patchouli adds earthy weight and leather brings a smooth, shadowed polish.
Down in the base, vetiver, sandalwood and Virginia cedar set the woody frame. Ambroxan and Amberever warm it up with an amber glow, and tonka bean plus musk finish it with a sweet, powdery softness.
Across the wear it stays balanced: woody but not dry, aromatic but not old-school, sweet but not heavy. Citrus, musk, amber and both fresh and warm spice facets sit side by side, with patchouli running through.
It fits neatly into polished daily life — office, downtown, dinners where you want to smell sharp and current, with a wink to the newsroom idea behind the name.
You will like it if you enjoy woody aromatic scents with a citrus-sweet lift, and if you want an easy unisex wear built on clean lavender, soft leather and sweet musky woods.
New Journalist Fresh Ink does what the title suggests: a sharp opening line that settles into solid wood, leather and amber. A clean, modern addition to the Michael Malul London lineup.
