  Neither here nor there. Xerjoff’s new K Blue collection brings four fragrances, and Holysm is one of them. It opens with a strong spicy note, leather in the base, and a herbal touch. No, you won’t be surprised: there’s no real leather or pepper, but thyme (which is a spice) and labdanum (which smells like leather) dominate the first ten minutes. It reminded me, from a distance, of Cruz del Sur I (not the weird or sweet mango version that is the II). That one is tough, very spicy, and features castoreum which smells like leather, just like Holysm. The drydown is a bit rough, but after ten minutes the fragrance opens up and lowers that spice to reveal a herbal, slightly smoky, aromatic, and woody scent that’s much more wearable than the opening. It’s versatile, masculine, and not youthful, but with modest performance. Honestly, it doesn’t communicate anything to me, it’s not new, and I feel what weighs here is the bottle design, the box, the marketing, and the novelty of the collection… all for 290 euros for 50 ml! If you’re looking for something herbal, go for Slumberhouse or even better, Pineward. Sadly, Xerjoff is no longer what it used to be and has abused launches by hyping up consumers. Only one of the four is saved, and it’s not Holysm.
