One of the most exotic scents I’ve ever tried; if you own a bottle, save it for key moments and watch how people instantly respect Ghala. It’s a rose/oud combo that breaks all the molds—pure artisanal quality on another level. Jazeel’s owner and nose, Ali Alzaabi, said it took 18 months to achieve that balance. It features Oud Kalakasi, a rare variety with a distinct profile compared to the usual stuff, priced high but fascinating to Aquilaria fans. I don’t know the exact percentage of Kalakasi wood, but I’ve tried Indian, Cape Verdean, Assam oud, and even blends with five different types, and Ghala stands alone. Plus, rose and grey amber dominate the heart; there’s so much amber that, combined with the oud and rose, it creates a sour note that evolves over time into something salty, floral, and woody, like the wood is fermenting with Indian oud. Then comes the peak: just frankincense, Oud Kalakasi, and roses. It’s a sensation of lust, status, opulence, and arrogance that makes you feel superior without you even realizing it. The Kalakasi adds a creamy, starchy touch, while the Indian rose absolute and Anatolian rose create a hedonistic scent that captivates everyone. Ghala takes you to unknown places and evokes unimaginable emotions. You don’t even need to describe a single note; it’s clear what it makes me feel.
