  Since I was a kid, natural honeysuckle has been my favorite scent: lush, clean, sweet, green, fruity, and super revitalizing. Beyond its relaxing and healing properties, I read that its genus, Lonicera, cleanses pollution and is used in European cities; curiously, it does the same for me, clearing my ’emotional impurities’ after the dark months of autumn and winter. Diorella used to give me that fresh injection, but now that it’s gone, I’ve taken refuge in Chèvrefeuille’s Fraicheur Végétale, which smells more beautiful, fresh, and comforting, with a greener, more realistic honeysuckle accord than the 2009 Diorella reformulation (which became monotonous, linear, not green enough, and too ‘cooked,’ ironically in a Monsieur Dior collection). That disappointment also led me to use A. Goutal’s Chèvrefeuille more, which I also find exquisite. As an eau de cologne, it has good longevity (2-3 hours), and its honeysuckle note smells very natural, like the Mediterranean kind. It’s ideal for summer: it gives you the right dose of stimulating green freshness. I prefer this over other green fragrances with more ‘cachet,’ and I don’t go through a summer without buying another bottle. It’s affordable and almost always on sale at Yves Rocher. I hope it doesn’t meet the same fate as its companion, Cèdre Bleu, which is now impossible to find…
