What a shame no one has reviewed what could be the last gem from this indie house. Emperor Hind (the name gives me pause) starts with lemon and sweet orange, then jasmine, osmanthus, and a touch of earthy patchouli. In the dry down, the oud, sandalwood, and frankincense shine the brightest; they say there’s myrrh, but my nose doesn’t pick it up—it’s very well balanced. To sum it up, it smells like fecal oud, like a ‘stable,’ but who would want that? Scents, like people or countries, have different connotations, and that’s the magic of perfume: they give you a glimpse into the tastes of other regions. If you like stinky oud, give it a try (though unfortunately, it’s no longer sold), otherwise, keep moving on. They say it’s similar to Oud Maximus, but I don’t know that one.
