Courreges in BLUE is a blast of fresh, pretty, and potent air, nothing like the mass-produced stuff we see today. A gorgeous, ethereal, and modern aldehyde, perfect for everyday wear or a special occasion. If you love aldehydes, freshness, and a modernity that feels almost from 2019, this is a great find at a price most can afford. Anyone who has tried Chanel No. 22 and likes aldehydes will find themselves shivering at a scent rooted in the past but experienced with eyes lost in the void. Of course, Chanel is way too expensive for what most of us can spend; here comes this Courreges example, which doesn’t resemble it but offers a modern option with vintage vibes. Beautiful. The opening is overwhelmingly fresh and metallic, and that metallic note will appeal to those who don’t dislike the lacquer-style aldehyde. The moss, well, it’s the kind we have today, nothing comparable to the 80s moss as it’s far more synthetic, but it’s always nicely covered by the lavender and those fresh, lovely flowers. I smell a beautiful rose, nothing murky or darkened, a beautifully fresh and light rose that I adore. I say this because lately roses turn me off as I notice them carrying strong ammoniacal tones, often mixed with those overly heady modern musks. This perfume is for a decisive person, one who never looks to see what others are doing, who has their path marked, who is also gentle and humble but has personality. People who know how to appreciate themselves, who don’t settle, yet their modus operandi is never to stand out by trying to surpass anyone or climb by pushing on others’ shoulders to raise their own walls. It’s for a true woman, with very clear emotional intelligence, who gets moved, who accepts she makes mistakes but knows her errors come from her own lack of courage in certain situations; based on this, she thrives and progresses, being a woman built on her own experience. Courreges in BLUE is simple but not simplistic, tender, it gets moved but also knows how to stand its ground; it’s the scent and resurgence of an unfrustrated life, she is happier with less, and that little, no matter how little, has great value to her because it sprouted from her true interior.

The description of La Dame de Noir fits perfectly with the attempt to relaunch Courrèges, that house which was an emblem of vanguard style. They have chosen to recover Courrèges’ essence for new times without betraying themselves, avoiding creating soulless clothes at luxury prices like the second-tier brands do in the CH style. Electric blue yé-yé cut jackets, white pants with a sport heritage, a dynamic, vanguard, sexy, and very clean attitude. Exactly what Courrèges was, something very wearable after surpassing the impact of futuristic and geometric patterns. Hopefully it works for them; Courrèges has one of the most beautiful logos ever created. Another similar French futuristic aesthetic house that has been a secret among fashion insiders for a few years is Rabanne, which has returned to recovering its essence of movement, street, and dynamism. As for perfumes, we already know the aberration it has become. Bazaar Chinese products sold by luxury brands. It would be so nice if they associated that unique spirit again with classics like Calandre, or even Paco, who wasn’t exactly the best, but seeing things today… In the current Courrèges, it seems the creator’s essence goes hand in hand with the perfumery. Another thing is whether people realize it.
