Compliment by Maison Violet is a floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2021, this composition was created by nose Nathalie Lorson. Upon opening, it unfolds a fresh and luminous atmosphere thanks to orange blossom, palmarosa, eucalyptus, violet leaves, and peony. The heart reveals an exuberant and sensual bloom with neroli, sambac jasmine, jasmine, ylang-ylang, freesia, hawthorn flower, and heliotrope. To finish, the base notes offer an enveloping warmth and earthiness through benzoin, hay, vanilla, and linen.

Ultimately, it’s a fragrance that will earn compliments for being a very well-crafted floral blend with green and amber nuances. The vanilla base is spectacular: nothing sweet, childish, gourmand, or simple. It’s elegant, sophisticated, and modern. Projects a lot, with a huge sillage and over 10 hours of longevity that’s impossible to beat. Versatile for day or night, ideal in fresh or cool atmospheres. Performance is flawless from the first spray to the dry down. I’m so happy to have it and recommend it to lovers of retro white florals, like Robert Piguet Fracas, especially if you enjoy neroli. 10/10
I absolutely love Compliment. I have an on-again, off-again relationship with neroli: I get overwhelmed if they’re sweet and sticky, but they seduce me with green touches, like here. The neroli sits in the center with jasmine, wrapped in green, herbal, sharp, crisp, and wet notes. It’s like white flowers and greenery soaked by a fine rain; the vibe is fantastic. It lives up to its name, generates compliments, performs amazingly, and leaves a great trail. Not intoxicating if you control the sprays. Dresses elegantly but is easy to wear. Feels more daytime and shines in humid environments. Another gem on par with Maison Violet, recommended for white floral lovers.
Compliment is that tender, precious perfume you imagine for your wedding. I can’t isolate more than two or three notes; everything blends into a white floral where nothing dominates, though I’d lean toward neroli: sweet and slightly sticky, but not annoying or gourmand. Perfect for the office or any place where you want to be noticed without being intrusive. On my skin, it lasts about 5-6 hours, projects well for the first two, then becomes more intimate. I wouldn’t buy it because it’s not my style, but if someone gifted it to me or I had the cash, I’d love it. Not something I’d spend my current budget on.
