About Cocoon
Cocoon by Marc Gebauer Is a Woody Aromatic Hug for Skin
Cocoon is Marc Gebauer’s new fragrance, launched in 2025. It’s a woody aromatic composition made for women and men, crafted by perfumer Luca Maffei.
Despite being new to the lineup, it already feels like a familiar comfort: bright citrus, a mineral heart, and a soft, woody base come together in a quiet, close-wearing scent.
The opening is led by bergamot, grapefruit, and elemi resin. The citrus is sparkling, but the resin lends a balsamic warmth that softens the edges and gives the impression of sun on skin.
At the heart, salt, ambroxan, and iris create a fascinating contrast. The salt and ambroxan bring a dry, almost skin-like minerality, while iris adds a silky, powdery texture. This is where Cocoon finds its distinctive character.
The base is built on sandalwood and cashmere. These two notes anchor the fragrance with a creamy, gentle woodiness that feels like wrapping yourself in a soft knit. It’s comforting without being heavy.
With salty, woody, citrusy, powdery, aromatic, amber, musky, marine, iris, and fresh spicy accords, Cocoon is a nuanced composition. It doesn’t shout; instead, it lingers close to the skin, making it ideal for more intimate wear.
Because it’s unisex, Cocoon can be worn in many ways. It works especially well in cooler weather, but its citrusy freshness gives it enough lift for milder days too.
Cocoon will appeal to anyone who prefers modern, unisex fragrances with a woody, saline edge. If you enjoy iris, salt, ambroxan, and creamy woods, this is definitely worth trying.
Cocoon is a well-crafted, understated addition to Marc Gebauer’s catalog. Its early rating of 3 out of 5 suggests it’s not a love-at-first-sniff for everyone, but its unique balance of salt, iris, and wood makes it a compelling choice for fans of subtle, sensory perfumery.
