First impression is very cold. Either everyone else who tried it loved it, it just doesn’t work with my skin, or something’s off. It barely smells on me.
I’m heading to the store to try blending Aqua Allegoria Rosa Palissandro with Rosa Forte; I have a feeling that layering will yield something interesting.
Ugh, a weird fragrance. It feels poorly constructed. It’s one of those that’s just a simple ‘meh.’ It’s a woody citrus that turns a bit dirty, totally unisex, and pretty mediocre. It doesn’t have the best longevity or the best scent. I don’t even smell yuzu or oud in it; sometimes it smells like sweat. Guerlain has better Allegorias, honestly.
I was blown away by the opening because I adore yuzu. At first, it’s a subtly arranged yuzu with an oud lurking in the background. But as it dries, the oud takes control and creates a blend that’s almost otherworldly, with a pea-green vibe that reminded me of Molinard’s Patchouli. It’s intoxicating, sumptuous, and refreshingly ambiguous.
I’m absolutely obsessed with the opening because I love the yuzu. At first, it’s a subtly refined yuzu, with oud working its magic in the background. However, as it dries, the oud takes over, creating something truly alien—a pea-green scent that reminded me of Molinard’s patchouli at times. It’s intoxicating, opulent, and refreshingly ambiguous.
Smells amazing with great longevity and projection; maybe one of Guerlain’s and the Aqua Allegoria line’s most potent. You put it on and feel it all day; four sprays fill the entire room, even after a shower. It’s very woody and citrusy, reminiscent of Jo Malone’s Oud & Bergamot, which is a delight. I see this for spring and fall rather than summer because it’s so strong and could be overwhelming in the heat. It’s among the best Guerlain has done recently, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work for me: no matter how hard I try, I’m not convinced because it smells like a cleaning product (I don’t know which one) and I can’t connect with it. I suppose the yuzu note is to blame, as it tends to make the fragrance bitter.
