Descripción
Alada by Myrurgia is a floral musky woody fragrance for women. Launched in 1979, this composition was created by perfumer Ramon Monegal. The top notes unfold with a vibrant citrus blend of lemon, lime, tangerine, sage, and peach; the heart reveals a delicate floral bouquet of carnation, jasmine, spicy notes, and cyclamen; while the base settles on oakmoss, cedar, leather, and musk.

I remember it as part of my childhood because my mom used it alongside Blue Grass by E. Arden. I’d go to kindergarten, and she’d style my hair perfectly. Blue Grass is still available, but what about Alada? I haven’t seen it again, and I can’t find anything here in Mexico. If I saw it in a store, I’d buy it without hesitation; it smells so clean and fresh. I used it after my bath, and I love it.
My first perfume, along with Agua Profunda. I adored it. My mother bought it for me when I was 14, and I wore it throughout high school. Later, I bought one to recapture those old times, but they had changed it. In some way, it was a great disappointment and the final blow to an era full of personal insecurities and letdowns. Fortunately, some things change for the better with time.
My first perfume, alongside Deep Water. My mom gifted it to me at 14, and I wore it throughout high school. Later, I bought one out of nostalgia, but it had been reformulated. It was a huge letdown and marked the end of a chapter filled with insecurities. Fortunately, some things do get better with age.
My teenage perfume. I loved it.
It was my cologne during my puberty years. I loved it.
Alada is childhood memories, the first kiss, adolescence, rebellion, bells, and friends. I loved it. What a pity they stopped making it. There are colognes that remind me of Alada, like Femme Angel by Schlesser and a Playboy men’s one with a colorful label.

Someone in my circle used it, but I don’t remember who. I do remember buying one from the same house, AMARANDE, which was blue, and alternating it with TES. Then came DON ALGODÓN and one from the MANGO house… what times… what scents 😍

An 80s classic that I wore in my youth alongside Aqua Prima, Tess, and Anarande. I don’t know why they aren’t reissuing it; they were great creations at a good price. A tribute to Myrurgia and good memories.
A great classic of the 80s. I wore it during my teenage years along with other greats like Aqua Prima, Tess, Anarande… I don’t know why they aren’t reissued; they were great creations at good prices. A tribute to the Myrurgia house, which brought us such wonderful memories. What a shame it disappeared.
I can’t comment on the original since time took it away; only the ‘Besos de Alada’ version remains, and honestly, the bottle makes me cringe, though I might try it someday. Back in the 90s, peppery and summery fruits pushed out woody florals like Estivalia, Vereda, Deep Water, and Alada itself. I got mine at 13 or 14; my mom warned me it was too strong for a girl, and I didn’t say anything. I loved it because it was fresh but not as weak as Nenuco. It looked formal, yet I could imagine wearing it while riding a motorcycle in a leather jacket. It had character and complexity, feeling pretty unisex. I still have some scented pads, and comparing them to Playboy Generation for Him, I’m glad I have the latter. Even though they’re dry, the lingering scent is identical. Blessed are those who find Alada at a good price. EDIT: On 12/30/21, I stumbled into an old drugstore. It was a time capsule from the 70s-80s. There were interesting things, but it wasn’t Aladdin’s Cave. I was missing Louis Philippe, Myrurgia, Puig classics like Zambra, Moanas, Tess, or Eau Dorée. Curiously, they had Only by Julio Iglesias, which I didn’t even remember. Prices were high, except for Oasis and Alada, which the guy was practically giving away for free. Miracle! I found both resurrected. I left there euphoric with a 50ml bottle for 11€. The reunion was jubilous: it was flawless. It smelled fresh and sparkling, with childish citrus, bleached carnations of jasmine, and a challenging base of leather and moss. Cheery like a baby in a biker’s pacifier. It doesn’t last long, maybe 3-4 hours. The similarities with Playboy Generation for Him are still there, though the latter gets sweeter with pineapple and more intense woody notes. Alada opens floral, herbal, and slightly sweetly spiced. As it dries down, the resemblance is astonishing. 2021 ends with joy. Alada returns to my collection in a privileged spot. And I, delighted. EDIT AGAIN 02/11/22: I found an article from El Mundo from 2003 with quotes from famous noses. Monegal said it made a grand entrance at 20, was a huge hit, though he thought it was a dud because marketing created a minaret-style bottle with a black cap. He only got the green box. A dud, he says… Ramón, man, I can’t imagine my adolescence without Alada.
I can’t say much because time swallowed it whole, and only the ‘Besos de Alada’ version remains, which gives me the creeps. In the 90s, fruits and pepper notes took over to make room for woody florals like this one. I had it at 13, and my mom said it was too strong for a girl, but I loved it because it was fresh without being weak. It seemed formal but had a real kick, even unisex. I still have scented pads; I compared one to Playboy Generation for Him, and even though the pad was dry, they smelled similar. If anyone finds a cheap bottle of Alada, it’s pure gold. In December 2021, I found an old drugstore with crazy prices but a buy-one-get-one deal: Oasis and Alada. I grabbed 50ml for 11 euros, and it was perfect. Juvenile citrus, jasmine carnations, and a base of leather and moss. It lasted 3-4 hours. It resembles Playboy at the end, but Alada is more floral and spicy. I was so happy to have it back again. I read a 2003 article saying it was a hit, even though the creator called it a ‘churro’ because of the Oriental-style bottle they gave it. But I can’t imagine my adolescence without Alada.
I’m joining the chorus of nostalgic fans asking why they don’t reissue classics. I spoke to an expert who told me that when one house absorbs another, they can’t legally use the exact same formula 100%. They can copy the name and the box, but the essence changes, and it makes us want to cry. That’s the only reason.
I owned it back in my teen days, and the photos of the bottle bring back wonderful memories, even if I can’t quite recall the exact scent; I vividly remember all the feelings I got when spraying it. I’d love to have it again to relive those moments and people. It’s such a pity they aren’t bringing it back; pure nostalgia.
It was my signature cologne during my crazy teenage years, alongside Eau Jeune Fleur, and I miss it dearly. Smelling it again would be like traveling back to my adolescence, to innocence and first loves. Maybe it wasn’t as good as I remember, but it will always hold a special place in my memory.
My aunt gifted it to me and I was instantly hooked, but then I did some research and got a shock: it’s no longer sold, only collectors sell it at gold prices. It’s such a shame they discontinued it; it was unique and lasted up to two days on my skin, nothing else has performed like that. If anyone knows a similar scent, please let me know.
