  • I loved it! At first, it reminded me a lot of Chanel’s Antaeus, so I tested them side by side. When applied together, I noticed Antaeus is more potent and fades sooner, while Afrika Olifant lasts longer. In a new test with a two-hour gap, I saw they are very similar, but this one feels more natural, higher quality, and velvety. It’s a soft leather with sweet oud and myrrh accords, and an animalic, salty base thanks to castoreum, ambergris, and labdanum. I find it addictive, sensual, and refined because the animal notes are perfectly balanced. I love it, though the 50ml price seems high right now; I hope it drops so I can buy it. Longevity is about 8–9 hours with moderate sillage. Rating: 8/10.

  • I absolutely loved this fragrance! On my first use, it reminded me of Chanel’s Antaeus throughout its entire development, which I own, so I decided to test it again. First, I applied them together, but Antaeus was much more potent and dried down faster, making comparison difficult. Then, I applied Antaeus and two hours later, Afrika Olifant, and finally noticed they are very similar, but the latter feels more natural, higher quality, softer, and velvety. Basically, it’s a soft leather with sweet oud and myrrh chords, animalic and salty due to castoreum, ambergris, and labdanum. It felt addictive, very sensual, and refined, as the animal notes are softened and well-blended. I love it, but the current price for 50ml seems excessive; I hope to find it cheaper in the future and wouldn’t hesitate to add it to my collection. Longevity is about 8–9 hours with moderate sillage. Rating: 8/10.

Wow, what an aroma. The opening is powerful and hints at the goodness to come. The dry-down reveals its beauty and complexity: complex yet easy to understand, unique but with certain similarities. It opens with labdanum, incense, myrrh, and leather. Then musk and animal notes shine through—spectacular. All backed by a rich oud that’s nothing invasive and super balanced. I never thought it would be this good. After two hours, the oud, castoreum, and leather take the spotlight, making it elegant, characterful, and mysterious. I’d wear it anytime; it left me head over heels. Nishane proves why their price is worth it; they are works of art. For formal and semi-formal occasions, men over 30. It’s unisex but leans masculine. Scent: 9.5, Trail: 9.5, Longevity: 9, Projection: 8.5. Highly recommended.

  • A complex fragrance not for everyone, and I’d never recommend it blindly. I have a 5ml decant that will last me years. The opening is strong, like being teleported from home to the zoo with a brutal animalic oud. After two hours, it mellows, becoming more wearable, smoky, and slightly sweet. It’s not bad; it’s interesting but complex—I just don’t know where to wear it. I can’t imagine any woman wearing this. Longevity is easily 10 hours with 4 sprays. Scent: 6/10.

  • Afrika Olifant by Nishane is a huge African elephant entering a luxurious Swarovski store where a mouse lives. The employees know; the elephant doesn’t. That’s how Afrika Olifant smells. Uniqueness: 4/5. Longevity: 5/5. Sillage: 5/5. Versatility: 2/5. Presentation: 5/5. Value: 2/5. Formality: Casual and evening. Usage: Autumn and winter. Alternative: Ombre Leather. Blind buy? No. Total rating: 4/5.

Few fragrances have made me feel like I’m traveling through time to an unknown place with the sensation that I’ve already been there. The opening is balsamic, resinous, and ambered with myrrh, ambergris, and incense. After a few minutes, smokier and animalic notes emerge thanks to those balsamic and incense elements. In the heart, the dark accords of leather and oud enter with force, creating a symphony with the uniqueness of civet and castoreum, culminating in a beastly, rough, and strongly animalic dry-down. An incredible and beautiful work of art.

A few minutes later, smoky and animalic touches from the incense emerge. In the dry-down, leather and oud kick in with force, creating a symphony with civet and castoreum, ending in a beastly, rough, and very animalic finish. An incredible work of art.

  • Afrika Olifant by Nishane is like an African elephant walking into a luxurious Swarovski store where a mouse lives; the employees know, the elephant doesn’t. That’s how it smells. A singular aroma with maximum longevity and projection, plus good presentation and value. It’s raw, luxurious animal leather. Perfect for autumn/winter night dates. Don’t buy blindly. Total: 4 stars.

  • The notes and name might scare beginners, but for those who already navigate the niche world, it’s a super wearable perfume. It’s elegant, makes you stand out without being overpowering, and is definitely one of my favorites from the house.
