1978 Les Bains Douches by Les Bains Guerbois is an oriental floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2018, this composition was created by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. The olfactory pyramid unfolds with top notes of whisky, bitter orange, yuzu, and absinthe; a heart of tobacco, white flower, statice, heliotrope, and rose; and a base evoking amber, myrrh, yerba mate, patchouli, Atlas cedar, and Virginia cedar.

This is my third bottle of Les Bains de Guerbois, and it’s absolutely worth it. Les Bains Douches is a well-crafted cocktail featuring citrus peel, sweet whisky, and woody notes, with a gentle resinous base. The opening seconds are some of the best I’ve ever smelled, but then the effervescence of the ‘drink’ settles into a warm, elegant trail. Compared to others, it’s a distant cousin of Nasomatto Baraonda or PDM’s ADN Oajan. It has a slightly 90s vibe thanks to a shy amber accord, but it’s incredibly rich. It’s more masculine and better suited for cold weather, with average performance that evolves into something more restrained, but it’s definitely worth the buy. Rating: 8.5/10
