Connubio by Solonoi

For me, it’s a social perfume with class. I really recommend Conubio. Not only because it’s a unique perfume in its own way, but also because it’s genuinely functional. Of all the Solonoi fragrances I tried, maybe it wasn’t the one that made the strongest impression on first use—unlike Bibliothèque, Laberinto, or Recíproque, which blew my mind with their authenticity—but over time it became one of the ones I wear most. I’ve been wearing it a lot this Buenos Aires winter, with temperatures between 5 and 10 degrees, especially for get-togethers, birthdays, and meetings in homes or cafés. It works perfectly with dressed-up clothing, but without going formal (chino pants, wool sweater, ecru shirt, shoes or boots). It has that just-right point between social and elegant. I don’t see it for an urban hoodie look, but not for a suit or gala either. It’s something else: a close, adult, comfortable elegance. For me, Conubio fits perfectly into those winter afternoons in the capital, in one of those Buenos Aires cafés set inside historic houses, old palaces, or hotels with memories. Wooden floors, high ceilings, furniture with history, heating, warm light, and an afternoon snack served with care. I can’t picture it in a modern or minimalist place, but in a classic Buenos Aires space, with something European, intimate, and social. It’s a perfume for being well dressed, but not in a tuxedo—that is, neat, kind, classy, but without becoming solemn or looking costumed. What I adore most is that scent that lingers like after smoking a pipe with Virginia tobacco. Not so much the direct smoke, but what remains in the wood of the pipe once you’ve finished smoking. Added to that is a bourbon-style vanilla, a little boozy, and that leather DNA so particular that I sense in several Solonoi fragrances. The result is elegant, distinguished, and sophisticated, but never loud. The performance seems phenomenal to me. It doesn’t invade aggressively, but it lasts very well and leaves a clear presence. It’s one of those perfumes that accompany you without shouting, but they’re noticeable. As a fun fact, a friend smelled it at my place and it was the one she liked most for her partner. She even found it very sexy on him. And I get it: it has something attractive, adult, and social, without falling into the typical obvious seductive perfume. In that sense, I see it as a great signature for an adult, over 30, especially in fall and winter. A perfume for gatherings, afternoon snacks, quiet birthdays, historic cafés, old houses, and occasions where you want to be well-presented without seeming stiff. In short, Conubio doesn’t shout, doesn’t turn heads, but accompanies you with class and warm elegance.
