Of all the perfumes I own from this brand, this is the one I use the least. The opening is very peculiar: rough, rugged, with a strong sensation of sweaty leather. The cade petroleum note dominates at first, giving a smoky, burnt wood, and resinous profile. As it settles, labdanum emerges with dirty, synthetic leather that reminds me of paraffin or industrial rubber. It doesn’t change much after the first hour, though it softens slightly; black pepper and myrrh appear with a green, slightly amber touch, but always over that background of burnt rubber or petroleum. For me, it’s a complex scent not for everyone. It doesn’t quite convince me, though I occasionally test it out for its marked character and ability to claim territory. I see it as clearly masculine, ideal for cool climates, with a leather jacket, motorcycle, tobacco, and whisky. I imagine it on mature men over thirty who seek difficult, almost unusual fragrances. Good longevity, over eight hours, with notable projection for at least three. Scent: 5.0/10 Sillage: 8.5/10 Projection: 8.5/10 Longevity: 9.0/10
I tried it through a friend, and wow, what a beast. But pure leather, no additives or camouflaged notes. It smells like being inside a leather goods store. It smells more like a leather item than a perfume. If you’re looking for that rugged leather accord from leather goods, buy it without hesitation. In my case, I’d use it more to spray on my leather jackets than as a perfume.
It’s surprising because it’s a hard, rough, and unrefined beast; the opening is full-on, in-your-face leather. On top of that, other supporting notes aren’t easily detected as is usual: it doesn’t smell smoky, nor like red fruits, nor this or that, just strong leather and nothing else. The most surprising thing is that over time the leather softens, and as other notes emerge, it becomes a much softer scent, even ending up fresh, I suppose due to the cypriol. As if it had an inverted olfactory pyramid compared to normal leather compositions.
