Sexy Ruby by Michael Kors

Didn’t quite work for me. The rose smells vintage. I’ll keep trying it, but I definitely wouldn’t buy it again.

I think it’s an interesting, elegant, and vintage perfume that reminds me of other eras. On the opening it smells potent, like an aged liquor with a sweet touch (without being cloying), then that sweetness settles in and you feel the rose along with the woody notes. I also feel a bit of attar in it.

A fragrance of love/hate. Some days I felt powerful, like a high-ranking executive… other days I didn’t like it and it felt like something for an older woman. I like it more than I don’t. Strong opening, elegant vintage vibe, like a drink with jasmine and a sharp/rare edge, then the rose kicks in and it evolves. I feel it’s a night scent, feminine, for a woman with personality and refined taste. In 10 years (when I’m 40), I’ll match this better; it’s different from trendy fragrances. Either way, I like it—it’s sophisticated, and when I want to feel ‘high-ranking, executive, and confident,’ I ditch the gourmands and wear this. Great longevity, intense sillage in the first few hours, sometimes a bit overwhelming. Stays on clothes a lot. Not for everyone.

I bought it for the listed notes and the excellent price. It has a vintage aura. It’s opulent, glamorous, ’round.’ I get the idea behind ‘sexy ruby’ and share the ‘sexy depth’ mentioned by others. Something in its composition reminds me of catalog scents from my aunties (sexy, elegant women) from the late 70s and early 80s, BUT modernized and reimagined. In my subjective opinion, it has an air of a fragrance from another time. Elegant, refined. It’s like a jewel that will always be expensive, like a ‘ruby’ ❤️. I loved the bottle—beautiful faceted red with a cap and gold lettering. Who will love this? I imagine it suits a confident woman, classic vintage elegance, perfectly made up, just out of the hair salon, with a commanding personality, a black-and-white movie diva from the 50s. It’s not generic enough to please everyone. Vintage collectors will go crazy 🤯. It’s for collection and wearing when the moment is right. Definitely long-term love 😍. Obviously, I recommend trying before buying.

A fragrance that surprised me quite a bit. The first minute reminded me of Valentina Pink with a potent raspberry that fades quickly, giving way to a subtly sweetened rose by the honeysuckle and a woody base that generates darkness. It’s a mysterious, sexy, and provocative perfume; it always generates curiosity to the point where I wonder what I’m wearing. This point surprises me: after 40 minutes I almost don’t feel it myself, but others can still perceive it perfectly and potently after 4 hours. I suspect it causes me olfactory fatigue. In conclusion, it’s very good and high quality, super attractive and usable in various occasions because it’s potent but not overwhelming. The only ‘bad’ thing is that in my case it’s more of a treat for others than for me, since they smell it for hours and I don’t. Still, I love it and would buy it again.

Brutal quality bottle, impressive red color, and the fragrance lasts more than a day on my skin without exaggerating. It smells like a paper bill taken out of a leather wallet, soaked in a perfume that isn’t vanilla-like or cloyingly sweet; it’s a real stunner. It smells like a Mancera or high-end scent, papyrus-like. I love that it has an indescribable scent: it’s not fruity, not floral, it evolves, it’s uncommon, and I can’t find a similar match. It’s so good and mysterious that the sexy vibe is perfect, without being sweet or salty, very balanced. I feel you can wear it for work, for an executive, or a command position; it has a peculiar character. Sillage 10/10, Longevity 10/10.

Replying to Kariav… I don’t know Sexy Ruby, but the same happened to me with Alien: from the bottle to the scent, they are majestic, and that’s why I never used them because I didn’t have occasions like that, but the truth is you have to use them, enjoy them, whenever you like them (love, love—I didn’t like one and sold it, for example, but I started using Alien for the office). And goodbye, enjoy it occasionally for daily occasions.

It’s very old-lady-ish. They gave it to me for my birthday, and in 3 months I haven’t used it once; I can’t find a place for it, so I think I’ll end up giving it to my mother. It’s a strong scent; I think it’s the roses and wood that hit me the hardest, but I don’t like it. What a pity because I really appreciate the person who gave it to me and it’s very expensive. I wouldn’t buy it, but since I have it, I’ll look for a good use, either on myself or someone else.

The wood is very noticeable and dominates everything; it’s undoubtedly a nocturnal fragrance.
