  Begum is another gem from Harrods. The opening is very floral and fruity, with a distinctly feminine vibe, though a man can wear it if he really wants to. It’s basically red berries and freesia over a bed of roses, with a vanilla-amber base (in the end, the amber is vanilla-based) and a touch of sandalwood. The patchouli is noticeable but plays a supporting role, not the star. It’s a soft, sweet, floral, and delicate perfume, perfect for daytime in mild weather. I like it and enjoy wearing it without getting headaches; nothing synthetic, and it smells very much like Xerjoff. The house repeats that vanilla-amber floral base often, like in Sospiro or Casamorati, very Italian style. If you’re not a fan of freesia, you won’t like this. Is it worth $600? If you love perfumes like this, yes. It’s linear, has good longevity, and in my opinion, it suits women more than men. If you can find it cheaper, that’s the best deal. Do I love it? Not really. 8/10 ✨
