Thomas Fontaine, a perfumer based in Paris known for reviving historical fragrance brands, began his journey in the world of scent with an innate passion for fragrances. He studied perfumery at the renowned ISIPCA Fragrance Academy in Versailles, where he laid the groundwork for his future successes in the industry.

Thomas Fontaine’s career took off while working for leading aroma companies such as Mane, Charabot and Technico Flor. He was soon recognized for his ability to revitalize historical brands, including Lubin, Grès, Jean Patou, Worth and Jean-Louis Scherrer. Notable creations by Thomas Fontaine for Lubin include Black Jade, Gin Fizz and Figaro, while his work for Grès includes Cabotine Floralisme and Miss Cabaret.

Fontaine’s recent contributions to the ‘fenix’ brand Le Galion have resulted in three extraordinary fragrances: Snob, Tubereuse and Eau Noble. His creations have been acclaimed, and his fragrances can be found in prestigious establishments such as Liberty.

As an independent perfumer and fragrance archaeologist, Thomas Fontaine can adapt legendary fragrances from the past to modern standards. He stands out in revitalizing classics, while also bringing in contemporary and original notes. Fontaine finds inspiration in culinary delights, history, and his love of classical music and baritone singing.

Among Fontaine’s favorite scents in the world are lily, rose, patchouli, sandalwood and galbanum, revealing his admiration for the rich and varied world of scent.

His work as an in-house perfumer for Designer Parfums has focused on restoring the glory of the once iconic Jean Patou brand, demonstrating his unique ability to bridge the gap between old and new.
