Perfumer
Nathalie Benareau
With a childhood spent amid the intoxicating aromas of couscous and the taste of Spanish tapas, Nathalie honed her nose across three cultures—Algeria, Spain, and France—before moving to the U.S. “Better regret than repentance” is the motto that guides the hectic pace of her life in New York, as she runs between flamenco classes, running, and time with her family. Graduated in chemistry from the University of Toulouse, the first time Nathalie entered the world of perfumery, she knew it was the profession for her. In New York, she had the opportunity to apply her talent for formulas, working across the full range of creative products, from candles, shower gels, and shampoos to lotions and perfumes. With music headphones stuck to her ears, she puts her abundant energy to work for commercial brands such as Bath & Body Works (BBW), Victoria’s Secret, and Avon. But the off-piste snowboard fan also enjoys exploring the untouched territories of niche perfumery. Her favorite ingredients dance and spin to the voice of rapper Rosalia, with compositions steeped in woods, gourmand notes, and her famous “coconut water” accord. An encounter with an extravagant perfumer. ¡Olé!
