The Oud Man and the Sea by Ensar Oud: A New Woody Oriental

Ensar Oud introduces The Oud Man and the Sea, a unisex fragrance in the woody oriental family, released in 2025.

It’s a fresh addition to the house lineup, designed for those who want a deep oud experience with spicy and bright nuances.

The composition unites a broad palette: tobacco, oud wood, lavender, incense, cypriol (nagarmota), blackcurrant, black pepper, Mitti Attar, osmanthus, vanilla, pepper, clove, cocoa, rose and musk.

Its main accords span tobacco, oud, sweet, warm spicy, woody, fresh spicy, fruity, lavender, amber and floral. On skin, the balance shifts with temperature, revealing different facets over the course of a day.

The presence of cypriol and Mitti Attar lends an earthy, almost mineral undertone. Osmanthus and blackcurrant add brightness and a subtle fruity edge, while vanilla and cocoa soften the spicy outline.

Released in 2025, The Oud Man and the Sea belongs to the woody oriental family and is positioned as a unisex fragrance. It is a new piece in Ensar Oud’s catalog, staying close to the house’s resinous aesthetic.

Early ratings put the fragrance at 4.4 out of 5 from five reviews, and no perfumer has been credited. Even so, the execution feels deliberate and well balanced.

This fragrance will appeal to oud lovers and fans of woody orientals who enjoy contrasts between resin, fresh spice and soft sweetness, and who want a unisex scent for day or evening wear.

The Oud Man and the Sea is a confident addition to Ensar Oud’s catalog. It balances the gravitas of oud with a fresh, almost luminous opening and a creamy drydown, making it a compelling choice for collectors and newcomers alike.

The first Ensar Ouds I tried were Jamaican Ambergris Purple Sultani and Oud Man. I was sure the first would be my favorite, but Oud Man won the game, to the point that I had to find a way to bring it to my country. It’s an oud perfume that doesn’t stink, just woody, with spices, but it stands out for what the bottle’s painting refers to: the sea. This is interpreted with navy blue notes, it’s fresh, with a blue mint sensation, whose contrast creates a very pleasant experience. It happened that around the same time I tried L’Oud Marin by Maksim and, although different, the marine oud profile stands out, becoming one of my favorites. You have no problem with projection or longevity. It’s definitely one of my favorites in my collection. Literally, it smells like dock wood at night.
