I’m surprised they call this ‘sandalwood’ because at first it smells more like solitary patchouli, with that milky, slightly intoxicating opening—like a bat craving fruit. As it dries, it leaves behind that vibe of ancient parchment reminiscent of Patchouli Ancien. It doesn’t smell like soap like Molinard or chocolate like Reminiscence, nor does it turn aggressively green like Villoresi, even though it carries lavender. Maybe it’s not as patchouli-heavy as I thought, or perhaps I should focus more on the sweetness of the sandalwood and vanilla. But the damp basement effect of the patchouli is undeniable. I don’t detect the seaweed or the lavender; maybe the sweetness needs a salty touch, though that floral note with coniferous undertones from the lavender escapes me.
