Starting with NAO is an honor, but watch out: this isn’t a spray-and-run fragrance. You have to think before opening the bottle, choose your outfit, and decide exactly where to apply each drop. The opening is brutal: juicy apple and cypress resin hit you straight on deck with pure energy. Then, moving down into the hold, you notice Virginia and Chinese cedar, Indian sandalwood, all mixed with orange blossom, pepper, and Damask rose. Finally, the sandalwood turns creamy thanks to the Tong King musk. In short, it’s an olfactory journey aboard those ancient ships—elegant and super long-lasting. Ideal for nights, but also for days, especially in autumn, winter, and spring. 100% natural with an incredible evolution. Thanks to Pablo Locascio for this masterpiece.
What a beautiful perfume! You can feel Pablo Locascio’s passion in every note. NAO smells like the woods and varnishes of those ships from days gone by, made with top-tier ingredients. It doesn’t try to be the sea; it’s a refined, resinous scent with a green, acidic apple that stays with you throughout the journey. As it dries down, the wood becomes creamy and clean, thanks to the sandalwood and orange blossom, all very subtle. It’s unisex, though men tend to prefer it. For me, it conveys having your feet firmly on the ground, being anchored. Ideal for someone with clear ideas, someone who does things instead of worrying, or for relaxing after a tough day. There’s a healthy pride here—the best version of yourself.
My head is blown away from the very first sniff; without a doubt, it’s my favorite in the collection, hehe. NAO has a gorgeous story: in Spain from the 14th to 16th centuries, Naos were giant ships circumnavigating the world in search of spices and goods. They were built of oak and pine, caulked with pitch made from pine and cypress resin. Imagine the holds: smells of wood, resin, apple cider to prevent scurvy, spices, and even rum to cheer up the crew. He didn’t want those scents to be lost with modern ships. Created in 2008 after two years of study, it’s one of a kind. Woody, resinous, with apple and a rich rose. It’s like 12 perfumes in one. I wear it in autumn, winter, and spring. Performance, originality, exclusivity, and quality: 10/10.
