Megalium is one of the best cinnamon perfumes I’ve ever smelled. It features a very natural and realistic cinnamon, accompanied by spices like nutmeg, over a balsamic base of incense and myrrh, confirming a sweet and very warm scent. I see it as unisex and perfect for cool climates. Maybe where it falls short is performance: it’s not bad, but it’s moderate, despite having a powerful opening that doesn’t hold up later. As previous reviewers say, the opening is a cinnamon bomb, slightly sweet and boosted by pepper, which is quite noticeable on my skin. Sometimes I also catch hints of rose and the resinous base of myrrh. As it dries down, it loses its sweetness and becomes more spicy, reminiscent of 80s oriental scents (it reminds me of CK Obsession), but with a sweaty touch from the nutmeg and pepper. Surprisingly, it doesn’t project much, but it lasted until the next day on my arm. I see it as unisex for day or night in cold weather. Although I loved the opening and am a cinnamon fan, the excessive spiciness it turns into doesn’t convince me, as it gets dense and somewhat unpleasant. A very peculiar perfume, not for everyone, but for me it smells like Seville and its brotherhood incense. That incense powder sprinkled on charcoal, creating that signature cloud typical of the city. It’s a blend of resins, myrrh, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg. Depending on the context or your outfit, it might or might not work. If you haven’t been to Seville, imagine a sweet, resinous accord, like an amber stain you toss a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, and myrrh into.
It smells like exotic tobacco. For those seeking sweeter or more feminine cinnamon, luckily there are options like Italica by Xerjoff, Horchata de Vanille by Sphinx, or Carner Rima XI, though the last one is already blended. For me, Megalium is loud and bitter.
Megalium has the most natural cinnamon I’ve ever tried: a dry, woody note that shines on the skin. It starts strong but fades quickly, sticking close to the skin for a very intimate vibe. It’s perfect for dates, nights out, or cold days where it really gets to work. To me, it feels like a very hipster scent, ideal for a casual look.
