  Clean-smelling perfume, ideal for the office. Generic aroma. Low projection, longevity around 3 to 4 hours. For the price, there are better options out there. Best climate: spring. Much better than the Black version of this perfume. Edit: adding that I’ve come to appreciate it more over time. It’s a fragrance that people close to you will enjoy.

  Ufff, smells amazing. This Mauboussin Pour Lui is fresh, spicy, and aromatic with a woody base (note: it doesn’t smell like wood, but rather a blend of lavender, anise, absinthe, and amber). Longevity: it easily lasts your 6 hours without worry. Projects for 1 hour, then settles to skin-level after 3 hours. For under $30 for 100ml, you get a great eau de parfum: fresh, elegant, classic, masculine without being cheesy, no weird eccentricities or odd stuff, and versatile enough to be your signature scent. Charming notes of star anise and a refined boozy touch of absinthe, paired with lavender, give it a playful, modernized 80s barbershop vibe. It’s like mixing D&G Pour Homme from the 90s with a dash of Dior Sauvage and John Varvatos Vintage. Hail to Violaine Collas, a lovely and talented perfumer who knows how to create fragrances that are bold, affordable, and graceful. In my opinion, it absolutely crushes the overpriced, synthetic garbage from A&F Fierce or the mediocrity of Montblanc’s fruity scents. Mauboussin is a French jewelry house making great, elegant perfumes at ridiculous prices, ignored by the sheepish masses who believe everything internet influencers with massive egos tell them. Alongside Une histoire d’homme irrésistible (what a great name), I believe this is the best from the house, with an incredible quality-to-price ratio. No hype from the ‘lipstick lesbian’ crowd screaming ‘WOW!’.

  I completely agree with molletmod.73. Mauboussin Pour Lui is a delight of star anise, absinthe, and ebony, like a softened and sweetened Drakkar Noir—all ‘old school’ but not annoying. A steal at a Zara price that outshines almost all the synthetic sprays there. Just note it’s subtle; it starts quiet but picks up projection once it hits body heat. Perfect for fall and winter as long as it’s not too hot.
