  • They say it smells like watching the end of the world in a cinema, and while the notes suggest it, the scent is something else: very pleasant. The dry-down is the same as Amouage’s Myths, but this one is sweeter fresh out of the bottle while the other is fresher. Myths evolves better and has more defined notes, but it doesn’t justify the double price. It’s hard to describe; better to try it—the notes seem strange but deliver an incredible result. The iris and gunpowder blend perfectly, like being on a calm cloud. It makes you feel good, it’s unisex, it doesn’t seek compliments but no one will dislike it. I liked Myths more, but after trying this, I opted for the price: they offer the same, perhaps slightly rounder and a couple of hours longer lasting than Amouage, but nothing exceptional. It doesn’t project much, about a meter for two hours, and lasts around 7 hours. High quality. Worth it if you want something that makes you feel good. Longevity: 8, Projection: 7, Scent: 7.8, Price: 90/135€ (50/100ml), Unique: 7.5, Emotional: Yes

It dries down just like Amouage’s Myths, though this one is sweeter at the start while Myths is fresher; Myths evolves better and has more defined notes, but nothing justifies the double price. It’s hard to describe—better to try it: even if the notes sound weird, the result is incredible. Here, the iris and gunpowder blend perfectly, creating a sense of well-being, like being on a quiet cloud. It smells great, it’s unisex, it doesn’t seek compliments but won’t offend anyone. I’ve never tried Amouage’s Myths, but this is my favorite from Etat Libre d’Orange. It’s a powdery, sweet iris, though here the iris is handled differently: the woods and resins give it a more consistent (yet subtle, like ELO) base, followed by a spicy charge of green vetiver, ambrette seeds, and carrot seeds that add to the powder effect, plus the gunpowder for a smoky touch. It feels airy, almost aldehydic, and—popcorn! It smells 10/10: sweet without being cloying and distinct. The performance is typical for the brand: good longevity but not beastly, sillage that floats without a trail, and it settles quickly close to the skin. It loses points there; with more power, it would be nearly perfect. It’s unisex, perhaps leaning feminine due to its delicacy. Although it smells nocturnal, its lack of intensity makes it ideal for fresh days. Scent: 10, Longevity: 8, Projection: 6, Value: 7, Uniqueness: 10, Versatility: 8, Overall: 9

I’ve never tried Amouage’s Myths, but this is my favorite among the Etat Libre d’Orange scents I’ve tested. It’s a powdery, sweet iris, worked differently from the usual. The blend with woods and resins gives a consistent base, though very subtle, as in most ELO creations. Then comes the spicy charge with the green of vetiver and ambrette and carrot seeds that help powder it up, plus the gunpowder for a smoky touch. Also, I notice a very airy point, almost aldehydic. And the popcorn! The scent is 10/10: sweet without being cloying and unique. The performance is normal for the brand: good longevity but not beastly, sillage that floats without a trail. It doesn’t settle well and quickly stays close to the skin, which takes points away. If it had more power, it would be nearly perfect. It’s unisex, though due to its delicacy, women might prefer it more. Although the scent is nocturnal, its lack of intensity makes it ideal for days with cool temperatures. Scent: 10, Longevity: 8, Projection: 6, Value: 7, Uniqueness: 10, Versatility: 8, Overall: 9

  • Sweet popcorn dusted with gunpowder, iris, and smoke. Not at all my style, too particular.

Every time I test it, it grabs my attention more. Before, I found it similar to a Burberry, but now my perception has changed a lot. It’s sweet, popcorn scent? Maybe… gunpowder? I feel it! Sometimes I smell it very talcum-powdered, and I think it suits autumn very well… I only have a decant, would I buy it? I’m not sure yet…

Every time I try it, it grabs my attention more. Before, I found it similar to a Burberry, but now my perception has changed a lot. It’s sweet, popcorn smell? Maybe… gunpowder? I can feel it! At times I feel it’s very powdery, and I think it suits autumn very well. I only have a decant… would I buy it? I’m not sure yet.

  • The X-File of my collection. I work with someone who is an authority on other topics but completely ignores the perfume world. He doesn’t even perceive them unless he dislikes them, like the wonderful Orange Star by Andy Tauer. You can spray Acqua di Giò all over him and he’ll say nothing. And that’s the case with everything, except this one. I was totally surprised! I love the scent, but I hadn’t found a clear use or season for it. As a colleague said, it’s a super particular smell. In my case, saying that is a compliment. It smells like popcorn, yes, but mixed masterfully with carrot seeds (not because I’ve smelled real ones, but because of the note in other perfumes). The gunpowder adds a spicy touch, but it’s not intrusive or alpha. It’s for wearing with colorful, cheerful clothes in informal settings. At first spray, it seems lighter than it eventually becomes; it’s not a beast, but it performs wonderfully on my skin. It’s an Eau de Parfum offering 7 or 8 hours without fuss. The sensations are comfort and reassurance; it’s cozy and fun. Above all, it’s a very fun fragrance without a clear use, but as if art needed a purpose! To me, it’s a delight, the bottle is running out, and soon the big one will fall.

  • The X-File of my collection. I work with someone who’s an authority on other topics but knows nothing about perfumes; they can’t distinguish notes or types, except that they dislike things like Andy Tauer’s wonderful Orange Star. You can slap Acqua di Sale on them and they won’t say a word, same with any other fragrance. But with this one, they react! My surprise was total because, while I love it, I couldn’t see any clear use or appropriate season for it. As a colleague said, it smells like popcorn with mastery and carrot seeds (not because I’ve smelled real ones, but the note in other perfumes). The gunpowder adds a kick, but it’s not intrusive or alpha. Ideal with colorful, cheerful clothes in casual settings. At first glance, it seems lighter than it is, since it performs amazingly on my skin. It’s an Eau de Parfum that lasts 7 or 8 hours without fading. Sensationally cozy and fun; it’s a very playful fragrance without a clear function, as if art needed a purpose! For me, it’s a delight, I’m running out of it, and soon the big bottle will be gone.

  • In record time, it has become one of my favorites because of how super unique it is. It smells ritualistic, enveloping, and strange, yet very comforting. I discovered it through a post claiming it was in the top 10 fragrances that smell like ‘new doll.’ It could be, because honestly, it does smell like something ‘brand new’ and sweet xD. Hard to describe, but it makes me feel super good.

  • In a short time, it’s become one of my favorites. The 3_3 is super rare, it smells like a ritual… enveloping and strange, but very comforting. I met it in a top 10 list that said it smelled like ‘a new doll.’ It could be, because it does smell like something ‘brand new’ xD. Hard to describe, but it makes me feel super good.

  • A very youthful, sweet, and caramelized aroma. I see it as unisex and versatile. Unfortunately, the projection isn’t very good beyond the first hour. Longevity is average; it fades after six hours, though you can still smell it well up close. It’s the second ELDO perfume I’ve tried, and so far, they seem more like solo enjoyment scents, both because they’re peculiar and because only people who get very close to you will notice them.

  • It has everything to be a signature scent, it’s just a pity the projection is so low.

First use, and I was surprised no one linked it to Paco Rabanne’s Ultraviolet Man; surely the target audience is different. At first spray, they smell almost identical: heavy violets, iris, and lilacs with a sweet, caramel touch and smoky base. La Fin du Monde comes out softer, smokier, and sweeter, while Ultraviolet is more strident with mint, but they’re very similar. As they dry down, that’s where they differ: La Fin du Monde turns melty with a caramel popcorn memory, while Ultraviolet keeps the smoke and mint. People say there’s popcorn, and honestly, there is; it smells like opening a bag of microwave buttered popcorn. The downside is that, like the popcorn, it fades very quickly. It doesn’t project much distance, and by the time you realize it’s gone, it’s already gone. Despite the apocalyptic narrative, it smells harmless and pleasant. It’s sweet and a bit cloying, but without crossing into cupcake vanilla. The gunpowder and smoke notes could sound strong, but they complement the caramel for something more refined than toffee. I like it quite a bit; the image of buttered caramel popcorn with a slight burn is curious. I’m not sure if the edgy ‘end of the world’ story convinces me, but it definitely evokes movie memories. It’s a shame about the lack of power, but I see it as curious and easy to wear, even daily.

  • La Fin du Monde is friendly and smells like popcorn, but the best part is that it’s unisex: it highlights the sweet and floral side on women, while on men it emphasizes the vegetal and spicy notes. The gunpowder adds a toasted touch that fits perfectly. The rest of the notes just serve to enhance that gourmand side and boost longevity. I liked that it radiates good vibes, probably because of the popcorn scent memory it leaves. It’s not invasive, but cozy, and after the first hour, the projection stays close to the skin without being a sledgehammer. Longevity on skin is average, around 7 hours, typical for ELO. Be careful not to think it’s a confusing, sugary pastiche like other houses do; on the contrary, it has excellent execution with harmonious and distinctive notes. It’s whimsical yet elegant, moderate but tempting. Overall, one of the best recent works with spicy popcorn, recommended for everyone. As always, don’t trust the description blindly; test it on your skin before buying.

  • A curious and distinct fragrance, but it’s not my DNA. On my skin, it smells like dust and talcum powder, with a sophisticated vibe that others might love, but to me, it sounds classic and a bit mature. It’s well-constructed and high quality, nothing synthetic or cheap. The issue is that it doesn’t evolve much; it stays linear over time. Performance is low: it settles on the skin quickly, smells delicate up close, but the projection is moderate. Overall, it’s a correct and well-made fragrance, just not my style or something I’d wear daily. Rating: 3.5/5
