  Another gem from the universe; what luck to have it in my collection. At first, moss, aldehydes, and bergamot dominate with force. Then, a dark, indolic, silky, and bold jasmine emerges from the depths, joined by leather notes, gradually taking center stage. I also detect clove, galbanum, and lilac; the rose stays shy until the very end. This floral blend in a chypre structure makes it stand out among its contemporaries. Benzoin, elemi, musk, subtle touches of sandalwood and patchouli, plus amber, create that mystery and exotic touch typical of well-made chypres with superior materials. The result is a chypre that plays heavily with its florals, reminding me of Chanel No. 5 for the moss, jasmine, and aldehydes, and Tabac Blond for the leather and clove. It also carries hints of Guerlain Mistouko and Coty Chypre, as if combining the best of all into a perfect balance. Undoubtedly, a little treasure by Mr. Jean Desprez that would inspire Bal à Versailles nearly 40 years later. A beautiful, substantial, luxurious scent that’s hard to find and deserves all the attention. This review is about the vintage extract.
