  • This Conquistador is an amber with a powdery touch that lasts forever. I tested it in summer, just a quick swatch on my hand, and forgot about it due to its potency and that hot sensation I didn’t like. I hid it in the ‘others’ corner until one night, looking for what to wear, I saw it again. I sprayed it and thought: ‘in this cold, I’ll give it another chance’. And I have no regrets; I’ve changed my opinion. It’s a pure amber. At first, it smells like typical ambers (benzoin, labdanum, and vanilla), but with more benzoin, making it sweeter than others I own. The citrus top notes last five minutes if they arrive at all, and there’s a notable powdery touch from the orris or iris root. It’s not a chameleon, but an amber that leaves the citrus and powdery heart behind. In summer, it seemed very sweet, but now, with the cold, not so much. Temperature makes the difference: 40º in summer versus 10-15º in winter. It’s totally unisex, with over 12 hours of longevity and considerable projection. I ran out because I lost the cap, so I’ll save that for next time. I usually don’t pay attention to packaging, but here I do: the bottle design is gorgeous, it features the brand’s watch, it’s elegant, and one of the prettiest in my collection. EDIT 12-28-23: the more I use it, the more I get hooked. That powdery orris touch is absolutely cozy.

I tested it in summer, just a quick swatch on my hand, and tossed it aside; its potency and that hot sensation didn’t convince me then, so I hid it in the ‘others’ drawer. But last night, while choosing what to wear, I saw it again, hidden behind that summer rejection, and thought: ‘now that it’s cold, I’ll give it another shot’. And I have no regrets; I’ve completely changed my mind about this perfume. It’s a proper amber. At first, it smells like typical amber (benzoin, labdanum, and vanilla), but with more benzoin than others I own, making it sweeter. Then come the citrus notes, which last five minutes if they arrive at all, followed by a very noticeable powdery touch from the orris or iris root. It’s not a chameleon, but an amber accord that leaves the citrus and powdery heart behind. • Luckily, I got it through a swap, and although I waited a year to finally write this, it’s absolutely worth it. The iris is creamy and powdery as expected, but here it’s spiced up with vanilla, making it incredible. It has so many layers, but if I had to compare it, it’s a mix of Dior Homme, the air of the desert, and the vanilla from Fort Royal. A sublime fragrance, one that you keep and that’s hard to find.
