Finding a good tea perfume is like winning the lottery. About 99.9999% of them are just tricks using bergamot to mimic Earl Grey. It’s not a failure, because bergamot is lovely and the Earl Grey scent is truly a gem. But I still crave finding a real, high-quality tea. I like the brand ELDO, and seeing they’d tested it made me decide to trust them, without expecting miracles. I haven’t found the tea note yet, but they haven’t let me down. What I smell reminds me a lot of the non-dairy facets of a milky oolong, with a strong citrus aura leaning into verbena. Is it tea? I’d say no, but it’s a beautiful citrus that gets close. Among the citrus notes, there’s a very subtle, clean, and opulent base—a light, green, musky-woody vibe, almost sterile. It’s a bit like Creed’s ultra-domesticated vetiver. There’s also a sweet touch, where the verbena citrus shifts from caramel to powdered taffy.
