Inside the salon, shielded by fire and thick wool curtains, my mother told me stories she’d heard from her grandmother: princesses captive to dragons and exotic birds that foretold destiny. From her skin emanated a floral and woody scent that plunged me into sweet dreams. KHALTAT AL OUD by RASASI is where rose and oud reach their full potential. It’s a deep, warm rose, like my mother’s voice narrating those legends. The oud accompanies the rose like a discreet lover who doesn’t steal the spotlight. Sometimes the musk adds highlights that contrast with that purple rose of Cairo. Over time, the rose and oud give way to echoes of sandalwood and cedar, offering a long, balsamic, and soothing dry-down. Projection and longevity can be intrusive if overapplied or if you’re not a fan of Dubai-style oriental scents. It’s unisex but leans more feminine. Perfect for winter; ideal for those who adore rose. I’m not a huge rose fan, yet I like this one because it feels so natural. The bottle design is also a plus.
