As a fan of almost the entire Beaufort lineup, I was eager for this new creation, which arrived via Daring Light. I was hesitant because I read it was based on heavy violet, which isn’t my favorite. And now, after testing it… it’s quite disappointing. It’s very subtle, almost imperceptible, with no sillage… and I don’t see the boldness. It smells like something floral (I catch more jasmine than violet) mixed with very soft leather and incense. What stands out most is the vetiver, but you have to put your nose almost right up against it. Used to the bombs from this house, this is their softest and most ‘for everyone’ effort yet. For me, Beaufort isn’t this, and I hope they return to the character and madness that fell me in love.
This has nothing to do with the essence of such a great house. I wish they’d stick to what they do best. It’s a perfume for any occasion and crowd, with a citrus-spice opening and a woody base. That’s all there is. There are thousands of better options out there. Plus, the performance is pathetic: zero projection and sillage. Lasts about two hours on the skin, maybe three if you’re lucky.
Medium projection and sillage. The blend of sandalwood, vetiver, and cedar in the base gives off a patchouli vibe, even though it’s not listed. It turned out less potent than I expected; the projection is almost ghostly. It has an DNA similar to Bentley For Men Intense, but without that boozy touch. It’s refined, masculine, with a powdery yet creamy drydown, very far from ‘ultraniche’.
