I tested it in the old bottle before, and it was flawless, but the new edition has changed radically: what used to be a fresh, clean oud and saffron with an undeclared citrus opening is now a loud, overpowering floral note that won’t let you be. It still smells of saffron, oud, and patchouli, but the flowers dominate so much that my friends tell me it smells like my mother. I like it because I have nothing against ‘feminine’ fragrances, but this isn’t what I was looking for; I understand that the vanilla and white musk drive it, but that floral note is invasive. I bought it at Laura, a top-tier niche perfumery, so it wasn’t a mistake: either they reformulated it terribly or there was a bottling flaw. It’s completely different from the previous version with the gold plaque, and that makes me furious because it was beautiful before.
