Forget everything you heard about the 2019 version—this guy launched back in 1980, and the current release is a disgrace. If you can grab the vintage edition, you’ll be blown away: it’s a cologne that lasts for hours and smells incredible. The new version evaporates in just two hours, so if you want to truly enjoy it, hunt down the old bottle.

I just picked up the vintage edition, and wow! It smells like pure darkness. For me, it’s basically incense in perfume form. The opening is warm and unusual, with patchouli, but it doesn’t quite convince me at first. The dry-down is a whole other story: it transforms into a dark, smoky, and calm masculine beast, like ancient incense mixed with chocolate and soft vanilla. It smells like another era, rich and completely chemical-free. You might catch hints of myrrh at the end; it reminds me a bit of Fahrenheit EDT with its benzoin. It’s not for everyone, but rather for confident guys 35 and up—perfect for dates or standing out.
